Position good for Nenthead mining history and excellent walking country. Miners Arms has a good menu and sells a local beer. One of the best bicycle repair shops in the country and the local shop sells everything. Garrigill is worth the long climb for the spectacular scenery. Look out for curlew and lapwing and more.
