Milsoms, hotel in Nayland

Featuring a bar and brasserie restaurant, Milsoms is located in Dedham.

We have been great fans of dining at Milsoms - living locally for 30 odd years but more recently on overnight stays after moving to London. The relaxed style of hassle free dining suits us perfectly. Staff are superb.

The Lion, hotel in Nayland

The Lion has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in East Bergholt. With free WiFi, this 5-star hotel offers room service and a 24-hour front desk.

It is located in the middle in a beautiful village. Everything was very newly done with thick carpets and fantastic quality carpentry everywhere. Food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful There appeared to be Mouse Man stools by the bed - I felt a bit wrong putting my cup of tea on it!

Talbooth House & Spa, hotel in Nayland

Situated in Dedham, 34 km from Hedingham Castle, Talbooth House & Spa features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Everything was absolutely perfect. Originally booked for 1 night but booked another, location is lovely had a beautiful walk on the foot path up the road seeing the sun go down and saw some deers and ducks. Also a 15 minute walk to Dedham town what we did also and was worth it as we went for a walk by the river and was greeted by some cows. The spa is my favourite was so relaxing lovely heated pool to the right temperature just get straight in and go for a nice swim, the jacuzzi is great too, I nearly fell asleep. Now the hotel and room itself is beautiful as we walked in was greeted and shown to our room, we stayed in Tennyson and it was breathtaking, very big space, big shower room which I loved and to top it off we had our own terrance balcony which was very spacious. The staff was lovely, made us feel comfortable and welcome and was there if anything was needed. I’d definitely be back. If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing break then I’d definitely consider the Toolbooth spa and hotel. They have restaurants that can do room service or they will take you down to the restaurant. We got breakfast to the room, tasty I’d recommend the yoghurt and blackberry pancakes.

GreyFriars, hotel in Nayland

Situated in Colchester, 200 metres from Colchester Castle, this AA rated property features a garden. Located around 6 km from Colchester Zoo, the hotel is also 11 km away from Flatford.

The rooms are spacious, luxurious, and very, very comfortable. The tariff was reasonable and affordable. (Worth every penny!) The check-in procedure was quick and easy. The staff were warm, friendly, and engaging. Pre check in instructions were clear and comprehensive. Reception was quick to respond to questions, and any issue was solved immediately. The hotel smelled nice upon entering. I really loved the L'Occitane toiletries and appreciated all of the thoughtful touches like fluffy white robes, coffee machine and coffee pods, and complimentary mini- bar items. Secure parking was another bonus, as was the location. We would love to come back.

We loved the Elizabethan style of properties in the town, Streets are narrow and hardly any shops and one pub/restaurant The Anchor on the river is worth a visit. Many walks also in the area. It was quite a quiet area when we visited in early May.
