Upon arrival nobody met us despite calling, texting, etc for about 20 mins. Looked at cabins and 2/3 had cars in front of them so we figured we must be the one that didn’t have a car next to it. so after 30 mins outside waiting for someone and knocking on neighbouring houses we unloaded the car into the empty cabin and then hear a knock on the door of the person in charge telling us we’re in the wrong cabin and to move. Apparently their phone died which happens but it wasn’t a great start. Second cabin we went into was smaller but still nice, for some reason the heat was on 27°c when we arrived despite it being 20°c outside. Cabin and property are cosy and quiet and lovely though. would stay again.
With incredible mountain views, this traditional, family-owned guest accommodation has a real log fire and wooden beams in its cosy bar and restaurant.

I liked the little bench on the green from where you could see and identify all the fells and hills and the fact that the house was central to all we wished to see in south lakes . The fact that Ulverston and Booths supermarket was 5 mins down the road was convenient.

Very close to the southern lakes as well as the coast. Very quiet with lots of shorter walks in stunning countryside surrounded by panoramic views.
Easy to get to from all major routes.
Have an evening walk up to St. Luke`s church, sit in the churchyard and admire the stunning view across the valley.
Visit the tea rooms in Ulverston and take the short drive to Cartmel and have a look around the Priory church. Drive up the coast road to Barrow-in-Furness. Plenty of places to stop, park up and admire the stunning view across the bay.

Excellent location for access to Coniston and the surrounding fells. Lovely local walks. Not particularly convenient for access to the rest of the Lake District. Red Lion a great place for food and drink, and music night on the second Thursday of the month.

A warm welcome to a home away from home.
A warm welcome to a home away from home. Local knowledge, for those without clear plans, freely shared - including previous guests' comments about the nearest open pub, which proved true when my aching feet prevented me walking to the better one 20 mins walk away and we went to it finding that it lived down to expectations.
