I stayed 3 nights in one of these cute little pods. They were perfect for a solo traveler – cozy, great size, and with all the necessities (including microwave, kettle, stove, & oven). Great location near the beach and for exploring the area.

The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Food was fantastic - both dinner and breakfast and the water and mountain views from the dining room were beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. It was a lovely experience from arrival to departure.

Lochinver is a place where a couple of nights stay would work in order to explore the surrounding area. Make sure you do the single track roads to see the stunning scenery. Restaurants need booking before you arrive in Lochinver.

Nice small town (village?), with everything you need.
Nice small town (village?), with everything you need. Shops, restaurants, a bank is coming 2 times a week on wheels, but ATM and paying by card is no novelty there. ;-) Nice people, everyone is greating everyone. Best for hiking the surroundings, I will sure come back for sure.

A small coastal town well worth using as a base for a few days to explore the west coast. A variety of restaurants, coffee shops and tourists shops to explore. A great location for walking tracks and some beautiful beaches. Beware the single track roads, some of them they can be narrow in spots! but every seems to drive slowly which is good :) We were there in mid-September and the northern lights were visible one evening, a lovely bonus.

A small fishing village but with all the amenities - petrol, snack food, restaurants - that any traveller could wish for. Close to the famous Suilven mountain that is accessible via a moorland path and then some climbing. I ate at Delilah's and was not disappointed with either the food - delicious burger - and drink - craft lager. The harbour looks too big, but I gather they do unlad some large quantities of fish here. Not many midges (late August) but often cloud-covered. However, one has to make the most of the weather and predict when the rain will come. All the shops and other amenities within easy walking distances and many re-cycling stations.

Lochinver is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Nestled on the beautiful north western coast and surrounded by spectacular mountains and lochs with an endless array hiking trails to enjoy. The coastal views are amazing as there are rocky outcrops and islands of various shapes and sizes. Self catering is the best option but there are a number of eating places in Lochinver with a good range of options. Road links are surprisingly good given the location but if you want to go off and explore there are many smaller single track roads to take you on an adventure just watch out for the many mobile homes and converted vans that you may encounter.

The space in the Smithy was delightful and very comfortable.
The space in the Smithy was delightful and very comfortable. We could have stayed in all day enjoying the wood burning stove and the array of books and CDs! Everything was provided for two people, and the beds were the best we experienced in our 10 day visit to the Scottish highlands!
Lovey setting and a very comfortable and spacious room. Jo was a great host and provided an excellent choice of beverages and proper milk! The breakfast included homemade bread, granola and compote using her homegrown produce. Lots of thoughtful touches like the toiletries provided and the sitting/dining room is a lovely relaxing space, plenty of books and woodburner (not that we needed that) so would be cosy in the winter too. We swam at the stunning white sand beach Lochinver only a couple of minutes drive. Highly recommend.
Fabulous pod, well equipped with everything supplied for a comfortable stay. The location is superb, perched up high overlooking Lochinver with a lovely decking area. Unfortunately the weather wasn't overly kind to us, however we were more than happy to cook, eat, drink and watch the weather from within the cosy pod. The beds were really comfortable and there was a surprisingly good amount of storage. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful.
I would thoroughly recommend Suil na Mara and hope to return soon!
The property's owner could not have been more helpful. This started before we arrived with information of the best was to travel to Lochinver to see the best sights, which restaurants to visit, etc. We were greeted like we were old friends and she was delightful Our room was upstairs with a mezzanine and the views from the property are spectacular over the Loch and to the village. The walk to the village takes about 10 minutes and is also a delight
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We received a warm friendly welcome from the owners. The room was spacious and beautiful. The ensuite shower was wonderful. We got our choice of beverages and snacks to have in the room. The breakfast is to order and there are several choices. The location is close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this wonderful guest house and would certainly stay here again.
Such a serene location with superb views of Suilven and Lochinver. Everything about the place exceeded our expectations for our one night stay. What particularly stood out was the hot tub on the balcony. There are lots of nice touches including a miniature ice machine, robes for after using the hot tub and a cork world map where you can pin where you're from. Great value for the money and would definitely stay again!
Dave and Caren were amazing hosts. Made everything easy. The rooms were extremely clear, well equipped. To be honest it felt more like a 4-5 star Hotel. The food was excellent and honestly so friendly and took care of all your needs. A fridge, coffee, tea. Every amenity in the room and more. Honestly I couldn't say anything negative about the place. They truly work hard for you happiness and succeed!
Lovely clean room. Beautifully set out and good quality furnishings. Room had 2 comfy chairs plus a small table and chairs for eating breakfast at. Bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was help yourself from a buffet/fridge on the landing, which you then took to eat I your room. We liked this system.
Ample free parking on the hotel carpark.
A few minutes drive into the centre of Lochinver.
Lovely spacious bedroom overlooking the loch, about 10mins walk from Lochinver. The bathroom was well equipped and beautifully maintained and our hosts Dave and Caren were both very helpful and welcoming. They provided useful guidance on restaurants for our evening meals, and other places of interest. Breakfasts were varied and very well prepared, providing a good start to the day.
Kristeen is a lovely host. Most welcoming and informative. Her tips on places to visit on journeys too and from Lochinver were top rate; She clearly enjoys and contributes to her guests having the best experience on their holiday.
We visited superb beaches eg Achmelvick& Clachtoll to the north and the fabulous Knocken ridge walk to the south !
This is a very comfortable well run property by the two energetic and enthusiastic hosts. Our room was roomy and beautifully furnished and we had everything we needed plus a lovely view towards Lochinver town ship. The home cooked breakfasts were delightful. Loved the home made granola and yogurt with fresh blueberries especially!
Wonderful little cottage. Perfect location for a NC500 stopover just outside Lochinver. Very friendly and attentive host. Comfortable single beds (which is sometimes a rarity). Great bathroom. Not too far from the cliffs and lighthouse which make for a stunning sunset view. Would love to come back for longer!
The property was well situated in Lochinver, easy walking distance to local food and drink with a lovely view. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty in the morning and the host could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The rooms were fresh, warm and well appointed with lovely views across the loch.
It’s located in the beautiful mountain , with very large car park , the hotel is fantastic with very high end , the staff was very nice and very helpful, the room we had was very nice with super comfortable bed as well , and mini fridge, the room with beautiful views out of window .
The location was absolutely great with stunning views no matter what the weather did. With a car it was close enough to all the fabulous beaches for fantastic sea swimming and also to Lochinver for shops and restaurants.
Stunning location. Although perhaps 20 residents all staff were friendly and able to communicate as though we were the only guests. Despite it being windy the hotel was cosy and the open fire just lovely !
The room was very comfortable and the continental breakfast was well stocked with choices. The host was personable and very informative about the area around Lochinver.
