Only 10 minutes drive from the ferry port at Craignure, where there is a small shop which seems to have one of everything which is open until 5pm, and the Craignure Inn (which we didn't use).
Roads on Mull are small, mostly single track with passing places so don't expect to get anywhere quickly.
We went on a wildlife trip with Andrew from 'Wildlife on Mull' which we would highly recommend.
Iona is worth the trip, interesting history and lovely views.

great place for exploring southern and central Mull. main road runs through the village but if you leave the road it's beautiful and very peaceful. loads of bird life and apparently a hotspot for otters though we didn't see any. Did see curlew, marsh harrier, deer in a brief stroll though.

The property was quite basic but reasonably clean although on removing the bedding as requested at the end of our stay the mattress was stained. The cottage is situated on one of the main roads on the island which I wasn’t expecting and with it being a single track road it was busy at times and there was no footpaths just grass verges to walk on so could be quite noisy and dangerous as the cars etc would fly along. The kitchen only had folding plastic chairs which weren’t very comfortable and I think it would have been better to have a king size bed as there was plenty of room in the bedroom. The kitchen was quite well stocked with pans, china etc although we only had breakfast in the property. There is a lovely restaurant two miles long the road called Pennygate Lodge which is well worth a visit.

Close to Calmac Ferry landing to and from Oban also close for Calmac Ferry landing to and from Fishnish to Lochaline which suited us for our arrival and departure times. Easy drive to Fionnphort to take local boat trip (for the am departure) to Staffa Island and over to Isle of Iona . Well stocked local SPAR Supermarket and services station and local pub

Peaceful, relaxing, comfortable.
Peaceful, relaxing, comfortable. Our journey had been particularly long and taxing,so it was with real pleasure that we talked to Nicki, who reassured us that all would be fine, irrespective of our time delay.
