Lavenham is one of the most delightful and beautifully preserved towns in Suffolk. Quintessentially English and with fabulous local craft shops and Tea shops. The hospitality of the shop keepers was excellent. The guided tours and visit to St Peter's and St.Paul's Church was very interesting. Long Melford is just 4 miles away and there you can visit Melford Hall and Kentwell Hall. Lavenham is a place I will return to.

Some exquisite buildings, many beautifully preserved and one (the Guildhall) in the care of National Trust. A good selection of independent shops and places to eat ranged from good pub grub to fine dining. Good also as a centre for visiting other Suffolk landmarks - don't miss Kersey or Finchingfield for unspoiled picturesque villages.

Lovely, ancient town with a good range of shops and amenities etc. The hotel provided a town map, which was really useful and informative. I imagine that it is really busy in summer months, but in March, it was not, so easy to park (free!) and walk around etc......highly recommended location in Suffolk and with a Harry Potter house, used in one of the films!

Lovely olde worlde village which is easy to get around. Shame it was muddy for the 2 village walks each 2 1/2 miles and 5 mile routes. Plenty of pub/restaurants, free parking and local shops.

Lovely historic town with fascinating & varied architecture. Many small independent shops & a good mix of different cafes & restaurants (the Indian was particularly good & about the only place open on a Sunday evening).

Lavenham as a town was beautiful, we loved the sense of History, but the house was very cold. We walked through the town in the evening, the Christmas lights and buildings were magical. We had tea in a small cafe opposite the Guildhall which was perfect. We had our evening meal at the Swan. We were the first guests and were privileged to be treated as though we were royalty. It was a magical experience in a truly wonderful setting. We went into an antique shop that was full of interesting items. If I were to return, I would stay in a hotel like The Swan where my experience could be more predictable, rather than a self-catering holiday home.

We loved the house, location - a delightful little village just outside Lavenham. The host, Frank, was welcoming and friendly. The beautiful garden and birds were lovely - the house was elegant and quirky, all at once, more home than hotel. Great set up in lovely comfy room with ensuite including bath and shower, coffee, milk, snacks and wine etc. Wonderful breakfast and chance to chat with other guests. Daughter and I loved our stay and were made very welcome. Loved reading in the drawing room too. Just lovely

A lovely Hotel in the beautiful town of Lavenham with plenty of character and comfort. Our room was very comfortable, it could be argued it was a little old fashioned as the television was not digital and the tea/coffee facilities were basic compared to some places we have stayed. The breakfast was good but would say it could be better (very ordinary sliced bread used for the toast for example).

Excellent location in the Market Square in the beautiful little town of Lavenham. The rooms are spacious and comfy and have really wonky floors which is to be expected in a building of this age. The huge open fire in the evening was gorgeous with big comfy leather chairs. Bed was soft and there were bottles of water, teas etc in the room. Breakfast was good

Penny Black Cottage is wonderful. Well equipped, cosy and comfortable. Unique decor and art work. Parking is on street but never an issue. Great location in Lavenham and for exploring the local areas. We were visiting for a funeral but would like to return for happier times.

Good location - on a street of modern houses but the Market Place is literally a stone’s through away. Very clean and just what we needed for an overnight stop for 5 people. On site parking which is very good to have in popular Lavenham. Nice and warm for our arrival.
