Couldn't fault a thing. Very peaceful setting with just a few steps to the moors. Wonderful evening meal in the restaurant, all you could wish for at breakfast, lovely gardens and the hosts were lovely.

We tried very hard to find something's that wasn’t perfect about this accommodation😇 but found absolutely nothing we didn’t like.
Probably the cleanest place we have stayed, from the front door to the bar, restaurant, bedroom and even the toilets , decoration was spot on .our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We even had a sofa, and a mini bar.
Nice touches like delicious biscuits and quality toiletries which you often don’t get in hotels these days.👍
We had an evening meal in the restaurant area, the portions were good and all food warm and freshly cooked. A step up from usual pub food, just what we like… staff were friendly and attentive,
One big comment, drinks prices wee competitive, we walked into town and had a drink at a pub less than 100 metres away which charged over £2 more for the same drinks.
We recommend the black swan to anyone who wants to get away and relax in comfortable surroundings.

I thought the staff were excellent, friendly, funny and helpful. The place was an amazing gem in Yorkshire with magnificent views and steeped in fascinating history.
Myself and husband had a lovely getaway and enjoyed trying recommended gins in the bar.

Lovely friendly set up, parking off road available too. Great proximity for Whitby where we were going & Skipton. Superb brekkie, lots of choice & very tasty. Friendly & engaging hosts who were keen to give insight on what might be of interest for us.

Fabulous old house with light and airy rooms, comfy beds and treats like Nespresso in the room. Garden is amazing - so tranquil with afternoon tea to relax with. The hosts are so friendly, genuinely interested in what you’re doing and so very kind and helpful. We have called many a time for tea and scones when cycling but our first stay and it will be a firm favourite now. You can walk and cycle in amazing countryside from the door.

I loved how incredible the service was and how delicately beautiful the rooms were, so inkeeping with the hotel and its surroundings. The sheets were crisp and beautiful with blanket after blanket of warmth to snuggle under. I had the best time! I was made to feel so special and nothing was at all any trouble. The food was of top quality as was the tea and wine. As an experienced traveller, this was one i will not forget! Exactly to my taste and exactly what I needed on a break away from the kids. Outstanding!
Beautiful , charming hotel with the most relaxed and calm vibe . Comfortable and clean - the room felt fresh and elegantly understated . Wonderful service and staff ( owners ) who were more than happy to help if needed. Lovely gardens and grounds to wander in and a very inviting terrace beyond the living room . The place exudes the traditional charm of a possibly bygone era ; a place where you can truly forget the troubles of the real world . Highly recommend this beautiful hotel .
This is a family owned and managed hotel which offers a traditional and comprehensive service. I cannot fault the professionalism, dediaction to detail and politeness of the family and staff who attended to our every needs.
