While there aren't days worth of activities to do within Lairg itself, it offers lovely views and lovely food for those staying there or those passing through. The Loch is great for photo opportunities and there is a forrest walk there also. It is great as a base to adventure out from for a scenic drive to the west coast where there are sandy beaches, or to the East coast where there are lovely towns and castles to visit. The locals are also very friendly.

This was a charming little town, a little off the beaten path but worthwhile.
The stay felt safe, other guest friendly and staff desired to please.
This location was easy to find, easy to park.

The breakfast and dinner were A OK.

Lairg was just what we wanted, a small quiet village, very clean and tidy, little shops that stocked everything, fish and chip shop was superb, Pier Inn had delicious food, lots of lovely walks, and community centre was full of information, very helpful staff, overall stay was great, and the River Shin, was lovely as was the Loch, if you want away from the rat race, Lairg is the place to go.

. Rather let down by local amenities that were not yet up to speed after lockdown. We were unable to book a table for dinner. Fortunately, the village shop has enough supplies for us to pull together a decent meal. The apartment kitchen was more than sufficient to prepare our meal.

Lairg is a very small village with limited but ample shops for supplies, we knew this in advance and this suited us as we were looking for a nice peaceful break. There is a Chippy that we used once after a long day out and the fish & chips were great 👍

Sutherland is one of the most magical places in the world...
Sutherland is one of the most magical places in the world but be prepared to get fuel when you can and stock up with food when you get a chance. Even when marked as open some of the shops and fuel stations are not currently open.
The accommodation is tastefully furnished and has everything you could think of to enjoy your stay. Hosts are really friendly and there if you need them. Really comfortable and ideally located not too far from local amenities. Very quiet and peaceful making a relaxing stay easy. Our 6 night stay was fantastic and we managed to complete the NC500. Night skies are so dark too you can see so many stars it takes your breath away. Thoroughly recommend Jakels Rest and would love to visit again in the future. Thanks Jan & Kelvin
we had broke down Miles away and had messaged about late check in.. not only did someone come help with break down drop us to garage and back to hotel went above and beyond, hotel was spotless and had everything needed.. shared kitchen private bathrooms..I cannot rate this place enough.. with everything going on I can't remember the name of the amazing guy but will definitely be back.
Colaboll Farmhouse is ideally located to explore Sutherland. The house is well equipped and enjoys the benefit of a boot room where you can quickly dry wet coats and boots. There is a log burner in the lounge for the cooler evenings and two areas to dine.
There are good shops near by to get groceries and highly recommend a visit to The Pier cafe in Lairg,
One of the best one night stays we've ever had on our travels round Scotland. A really stunning location and wonderful friendly staff, so welcoming to us and especially to our Husky who was treated like a guest. The food was beautifully cooked, presented and tasted delicious. No hesitation in recommending this hotel, well worth another visit.
Great stay. The flat is spotless clean, calm area, parking on site, all what you need. Towels, utensils - everything is there. The host communicated everything, we had no issues in reaching the property. If I'm back to Lairg, I will definitely stay here once more!
Bonus - amazing Pier restaurant is like 2 min away on foot!

We’ll certainly find again, and stay longer, if in the area again.
Lovely and extremely helpful hosts. The accommodation was really lovely, with a gorgeous garden at the back to sit in. The hosts left cake and whisky, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I will definitely be back.
The location is perfect. It is an easy walk to Lairg if you are reasonably fit. Great base to to tour the area. Jan was a good source for easy walks from the property. Lovely cottage with everything you need.
Excellent location for exploring Sutherland. Close to Spar late-night grocery store and to Lairg Highland Hotel for excellent food. Comfortable accommodation to relax in at end the end of a long day.
The breakfast was fine more than enough.
The hotel was in the centre of Lairg and easy to find.
Very useful as in a central location and able to use it as a base for touring the area.
great location but what really made it was the hostess. she couldn’t have done enough. it was busy, they were short staff as is all hotels at the moment, but she was a superstar!
Beautifully decorated and well equipped in most respects. Good central location in Lairg very near Loch Shin. The owner/manager was very helpful when something went wrong.
Beautiful tranquil location. Spotlessly clean well equipped pods. Excellent onsite breakfast van with tasty bacon rolls. Pier cafe in Lairg does good food.
