This is a beautiful place to stay..Fyioa, your host, is so friendly and helpful. We stayed in a twin room, the beds and pillows were very comfy. The bathroom was spacious. The whole property was warm and inviting. The breakfast was exceptional, you were spoilt for choice, hor breakfast was very tasty. One of the best we've had. Fyona's home was very clean and comfortable, she made you very welcome. I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Orkney. A*

I first met that group of friends only on Saturday 4th May and we departed Edinburgh at 07.30 to reach Kirkwall via a night in Inverness.
I was amazed on arrival to see that I had a private bathroom available to me along with extended facilities within my room (microwave, mini hob, toaster and a dressing gown in a closet).
The price for the two night stay looked remarkably good compared to one night in Edinburgh or Inverness.

A place combining plenty of history of different periods (we went on a fantastic trike trip (https://orkneytriketours.co.uk/) - great experience, visiting the Italian Chapel, standing stones and Scara Brae. The town itself has a 12-century cathedral, historical ruins, and museums, including the wireless communications museum, which was created and is being run by enthusiasts. There are also different daily art groups at Gallery 25 (https://www.facebook.com/Number25Kirkwall/?locale=en_GB) which we enjoyed joining. And the local English is very melodic - it is a pleasure listening to it! I can't say we discovered the fantastic seafood, but there is a lovely shop, The Brig Larder (https://www.jollysoforkney.co.uk/pages/the-brig-larder, one can also order local delicacies to be delivered) - again with lovely staff and a good selection of locally sourced dairy, cheese, seafood and preserves.

Kirkwall is a beautiful little city.
Kirkwall is a beautiful little city. I came for the incredible Neolithic history and to search for family ties in the area. There are many jewelry shops as well as artists studios and tweed or wool shops. The museum is also fantastic. It’s a fibre artist’s dream.

I would not stay at this hotel again out of choice .
I would not stay at this hotel again out of choice . We visited a restaurant out of town for a meal and it was superb. I then read the reviews for this restaurant with rooms which was in a beautiful location with lovely views and they were excellent also far cheaper.
The restaurant was the Foveran and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Also visited the Italian chapel and the site of the discovery of a 3000 year old settlement both of which are a must to see.
I played golf at the Kirkwall golf club very friendly and welcoming although totally self booked with honesty box available .
The central location of the hotel was great. The rooms were well furnished, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the young women who handles the breakfast is an amazing worker who deserves all she earns and more. It was priced a bit higher than I would have considered reasonable until I realizes that the particular weekend we were there was one with numerous festivals and, ultimately, we were lucky to a get a quality hotel with this location at this (higher than normal) price.
From arrival we were met with a friendly lady on reception, unfortunately I can't remember her name but she was very helpful, professional and made us feel welcome. The hotel in general was clean, tidy and had a homely feel. Myself and my partner had a great sleep, comfortable bed and a warm and clean room. We were just a few minutes walk away from everything that we needed. We didn't use the other facilities in the hotel but we definitely will if we return again in the future.
We’ve traveled and stayed in many places all over. This flat was fantastic! It was immaculately clean, comfortable, well stocked, and the owners were incredibly responsive and helpful. We will definitely stay again. Great location, within walking distance to the main area of Kirkwall. Right next to the beautiful cathedral.
Since we stayed 4 nights we chose the two room suite and we’re glad of it. Beds were wonderful, coffee/tea set up was convenient, view was spectacular. Overall Kirkwall is a charming town and we were steps from shops and restaurants. Breakfasts were good and they didn’t require following the set menu.
Very comfortable and spacious apartments. Well equipped kitchenettes. Decent wifi speed for the island. Free parking with a generous policy of allowing cars to remain parked after checkout for later departures when parking is available. Short walk downtown. Good restaurant and bar.
Very strategic hotel, almost in front of the fery terminal and the city center.
THe room was very comfortable and clean.
Nice bathroom with a bath tub.
Kettle with coffe and tea.
the personel at the desk was very nice.
There is a restaurant and a bar.
Fantastic location, if you have a car - 10 mins to Kirkwall 15 to Stromness then all big attractions within 25. The cottage is recently renovated and has everything you need. Hosts left lovely biscuits for us but we had no contact with them whilst there.
Donald was very helpful and even picked us up from the airport.
The property is in the centre of Kirkwall but not noisy.
Having a parking pass and a space right outside the house was a bonus.
Nice surprise to get the breakfast hamper.
Every thing was perfect at this hotel doing north coast 500 with a detour to Kirkwall out of our 11 night tour this was defiantly the best. The Host was very friendly and breakfast was also very good.
The Shore management have given up and the hotel has been taken over by the neighbouring Kirkwall Hotel. We went to this hotel for breakfast and the restaurant staff and food were very good.
The location in was ideal in Kirkwall and our host - Nicky- was very welcoming. there was a comfortable shared parlor for guests and we had a spectacular view of the Barbour from our room
Great hotel, helpful staff, good food, excellent access to the centre fo Kirkwall and the inter island ferries. Large clean and comfortable room, very good indeed, would stay here again.
