Number 14, hotel in Killyleagh

Situated just 40 km from The Waterfront Hall, Number 14 features accommodation in Downpatrick with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as luggage storage space.

We are just home from an overnight stay in number 14 as we were attending a friend's wedding in the nearby venue of Tullyveery House (about a 15 min drive). We needed a place to stay for the night and came across number 14, Tina and Eammon are the best hosts ever! Their kindness and hospitality was second to none, the house is beautiful, spotlessly clean and extremely warm & welcoming, a real home away from home. Eammon cooked us breakfast and everything they buy for the breakfast is all bought fresh from local suppliers! We could not recommend this beautiful house enough.

There is so much beauty in Killyleagh.

There is so much beauty in Killyleagh. Although there are beautiful close by walks I think having a car is a huge advantage. Within minutes you can be at Delamont Country Park with its wonderful walks and spectacular views of the Mountains of Mourne and its lakes and boats. A few minutes drive further you can see the deer at Fiinebrogue Woods. Beautiful drive towards Strangford and the possibility of crossing to Portaferry on a short ferry trip. Killyleagh Castle, architecturally striking and beautiful is the oldest inhabited castle in the country. There are wonderful places to eat. The Dufferin pub food is great. The award winning Smugglers Table in Killyleagh has great reviews. Be aware though that it and some of the fine restaurants within a short driving distance open only Thursday through Sunday. A lot to do and see in and around Killyleagh.

We stayed in a beautiful well appointed apartment, had great food at the local pub and cafe, the Dufferin Arms and Picnic. There are great local walks, local shops and very friendly people about. And just a short drive away from more spectacular places to visit. We visited Delamont Park, great walks, went shopping in Downpatrick and to see St Patricks Grave, we went to Strangford and caught the ferry to Portaferry for our tea.
