The Tobermory Hotel, hotel in Kilchoan

Set in Tobermory, The Tobermory Hotel has a restaurant, bar and free WiFi throughout the property. The hotel features family rooms. All guest rooms in the hotel are fitted with a kettle.

Despite being fortunate enough to be offered an upgrade on my room, the new room was not strictly a double. It ought to have been a single, then a wardrobe and a chair would have fitted. It seemed odd to hang my clothes in a window, and have nowhere comfortable to sit to watch tv in the evening. Also the bathroom did not function very efficiently. The 'baby's bath' hand basin is impossible to use as one can get no usable depth of water, then you knock yourself out on the tap device sticking right out. I have no idea how that design ever went into production! As for the shower I needed a hand book to get water to run, mix a correct temperature and went down to reception, just in my robe, to get someone to turn it off!! There seemed to be some lights above the handbasin, but I failed to find anything that would turn them on. Going to the toilet in the night I nearly died of shock when my bare feet hit the floor tiles - I'd never experienced anything so COLD! Thank goodness breakfast was as good as I remembered. However, as the property changed hands during my stay, I would have appreciated hearing that news before I went, rather than hearing it from one of my guides. The staff were all very efficient and kind.

I loved the colour of the outside of the house on arrival! It was pink and looked like a Barbie dream house and made me excited to enter. When we entered, we were greeted by a really lovely woman who gave us all the information we needed and showed us to our room. The room was perfect; a nice girly theme. I wanted that to be my room forever! Everything in the room worked awesomely. The shampoo and conditioner smelt great, the hair dryer worked well and there was lots of mirrors, which is always a bonus! The woman of the house went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Beautiful breakfast served. The location was ideally situated.

For a dream rural location Kilchoan Hotel is in a grade of its own. The efficiency of the staff combined with the friendliness of the locals makes it a spot where enjoyment is guaranteed — and all against the backdrop of magnificent scenery and some of Scotland’s best beaches a short distance away

    Beautifully secluded! Amazing scenery.

Beautifully secluded! Amazing scenery. Plenty to do in a short trip E.g. Sanna Bay; Ardnamurchan Lighthouse; Ardnamurchan Distillery and plenty of coastline to enjoy. Would recommend stocking up though as the nearest shop is 4 miles away and is limited to the basics. Beautiful sunsets to enjoy most nights!

Kilchoan is a small highland village with a great community spirit. The countryside is exceptional - if you only do one thing - then visit the beach at Sanna ( 6 miles), There is a small well stocked coffee shop and a cafe. Food and drink is available at the excellent hotel. If you want other facilities you need to get the ferry to Tobermory.

Firstly they refused that we had booked!

Firstly they refused that we had booked! Then the food - takeaway boxes! Then eating with people in their SOILED roadwork? clothes! Is that hygienic? Then refusal for breakfast because we were over by 20 seconds. If the chef left at 0930, we would have seen him/her leaving but he departed well before the breakfast time was over. The price £130 !! You can stay in a PROPER hotel with full dining facilities, room service and breakfast on till 11 am on a Saturday

The road into Kilchoan was interesting and challenging in places. It is a lovely place and an ideal spot to catch the Staffa Tours boats as it is their last port of call and their first drop-off. We ate at the Kilchoan Hotel where the food was delicious, although sometimes limited in choices.

I was thrilled to visit Mingary Castle, but what I liked best of all were the people I met in Kilchoan. They were all so very nice. The weather could have been a little better, but in the grand scheme of things made little difference.
