Queenshead Hotel Kelso, hotel in Kelso

Situated 37 km from The Maltings Theatre & Cinema, Queenshead Hotel Kelso offers 3-star accommodation in Kelso and has a garden, a restaurant and a bar.

Our room was lovely- bed was very comfortable and the menu in room enticed us to head downstairs for dinner. The food was phenomenal, and we loved the bonus touch of it being a pet-friendly pub (a rarity in Canada) and being able to see locals and their lovely dogs. Unfortunately we missed out on breakfast both mornings due to adjusting to time change (our fault not the hotel's, the window of time was generous, we just woke up closer to lunch), but I trust it was delicious.

Cross Keys Hotel, Kelso, hotel in Kelso

Looking out over the cobbled square in the centre of Kelso, the Cross Keys Hotel enjoys a landmark location in this Scottish Borders town.

The hotel is a passable 3 star hotel. The room was a good size with a double bed and sofa. The breakfast had a decent amount of choice with a surprising good fruit selection, although the hot food did not meet expectations. I found the dining area quite dark. I found it strange that I had to hand in the keys to my room every time I left the hotel - maybe this is normal but i've not experienced it before. Kelso is a nice stopover with nice shops etc nearby.

We ate at The Cobbles and also The Cross Keys. We had a takeaway from the Chinese in Kelso. All Good and enjoyable. Kelso is compact and all on the flat. We used it as a base to visit other places in the Borders.

The history is all within walking distance. it has enough going on but like all towns since COVID, there are hopes closed that may never open again. the bus is regular so you can relax and watch the very beautiful scenery while having visits to other towns.

It was a very nice apartment on two floors. Steep stairs up to both floors but apart from that very nice indeed and would highly recommend. We were visiting my sister who lives up the street from the Bakehouse so the recommendations below are not applicable as it was Christmas and all was closed.

A lovely little area with some amenities round about.

A lovely little area with some amenities round about. From our hotel in Roxburgh it took 5 minutes in a taxi to the town square. The town itself has everything you need Greg’s, chemist, co-op, coffee shops, antique stores, few pubs. So you can definitely spend a few hours toddling about. There is also a castle about another 2/3 minutes drive by. But do check the website for seasonal opening times. For great wholesome food I’d definitely recommended cobbles inn. You’ll probably have to book a table so be prepared, it’s a busy little place.

The apartment was very comfortable and the living-room spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped and we had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. Because the apartment is near the town square it was close to several restaurants. We enjoyed burgers and a steak at the Saddler's in the Cross Keys Hotel plus the food at the nearby Contented Vine. The bookshop in the town square was well worth a visit - a great range for a relatively small shop.

Easy to find and the location was perfect in town center. Parking was a breeze and easy to drive in and out of the housing area. Close walk to pubs and other stores. Comfortable beds and couch in a beautifully arranged house. The large Samsung smart TV in the living room/kitchen area was perfect size to watch streamed movies. Communication with the housing agency was quick via emails and Booking.com messages.

Graham was a very welcoming, friendly and attentive host. Bellevue Guest House is conveniently situated just a short stroll away from Kelso town centre. There is private parking behind the house. The rooms were very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was outstanding, using local produce, and by far the best I've ever had. We can't wait to go back again.

The building, rooms, restaurants and spa are all beautifully designed and the renovation has been an exceed t success, the staff were all very nice, the drinks were excellent and the breakfast was fantastic, the spa facilities are also very nice and I'm sure after some teething problem are ironed out the hotel will be an excellent getaway option.

The staff were great. Dinner was perfect as was breakfast. The room was ideal and the shower was as perfect as any shower I have ever had. The location in Kelso was central and we took the opportunity to walk around the town and experience the Saturday market before we left. The decor and condition of the hotel inside and out was exceptional.
