We liked the new installed garden bar - very modern and nice food on offer! Perfect for a sunny afternoon, and the staff all over the property were incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, very welcoming! the food was good and the chef is clearly trying to offer better food but it needs better quality ingredients and refining to hit the mark! Gravy was watery on the carvery and one of the dinners we had. Breakfast offering was lovely though!

Kestor Inn, Manaton, Dartmoor National Park, Newton Abbot, Devon, hotel in Ilsington

Sited within the spectacular Dartmoor National Park, you will find the Kestor Inn, Manaton, Dartmoor, Devon.

The location suited us as we were catering at Heatree - which means we left the room at 06:45 and returned at 22:00 so didn't eat breakfast or use the pub. Room 5 has no view. The room is comfortable and suited our needs.

The Old Thatch - Hennock, hotel in Ilsington

Boasting a garden and views of mountain, The Old Thatch - Hennock is a homestay set in a historic building in Newton Abbot, 13 km from Newton Abbot Racecourse.

We loved our stay. We had a very warm welcome from Victoria complete with a glass of prosecco and chatting by a cosy fire. The house is amazing, it's much more like staying with classy friends than a B and B. Very comfortable and lots of thoughtful little touches. Delicious (I'm guessing) Italian dinner available with pre-booking (we couldn't arrive in time to try it). Breakfast was outstanding. Cute dogs and kitten to pet. Great location and good tips for local visits.

The hotel is in a small village with a shop, a village hall and a very nice little pub that serves great ale. The hotel is not cheap but it delivers in a lot of ways. The food is lovely, both in the bar and the restaurant, the pool is very nice, the rooms and housekeeping are great but above all else it was the staff. They were polite and made time to chat and talk about the area and such. The location, close proximity to Haytor, and Dartmoor in general is a walkers dream. Overall a great place for a short break.

We enjoyed early morning hiking in Dartmoor. Walk to Haytor rocks early in the morning at 07:00 was very enjoyable. Torquay is only 30 to 40 minutes by car which we visited and there are lot of other attractions in the area to enjoy.

We enjoyed a lovely relaxing time with excellent food. The hotel is set within beautiful Dartmoor park with Haytor in the distance. We enjoyed really amazing food in the dining room for both breakfast and dinner, and and a relaxing bottle of wine in the lounge. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The price is a really great value.

Breakfast, dinner and spa all very good. Room satisfactory apart from one thing - the room was at the north end of the hotel and rather chilled, unfortunately coinciding with the hot weather and switching off the general central heating.
