We love the Norh Yorkshire Coast, but find staying on the outskirts of the main resorts such as Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington is a lot less hassle. Obviously transport is a must. There is a local train station and I do believe you can get to Filey this way, but travellers would need to check this. There are plenty of pubs/restaurants around the area, Bempton, Flamborough etc., Families always love the seaside so this is an ideal base for them all.

I came to Hunmanby as a child with my parents and the reasons for travelling now was to do a bit of reminiscing. It was lovely to go back. There has been a lot of building work and expansion, but there is still a spot on Castle Hill where you can stand and still see the original Hunmanby , where nothing seems to have changed for a couple of hundred years. Absolutely amazing.

Lovely little village with all the amenities you need.

Lovely little village with all the amenities you need. 2 shops, 2 bakeries, plenty of take away options if required and 4 good pubs each with their own differing aspects to give. A games pub and 3 doing differing foods Pies and the Piebald should only be attempted if you're really hungry! The White Swan has just had a makeover and now has a good range of food served daily And it's close enough to the beach but a short drive back and you're away from the maddening crowds Ideal base for exploring the local area and a good place to return to for the chill you need And if you don't drive, or don't want to, there's a regular bus route passing through and a train station so it really is accessible for all

Humnanby is a lovely place to stay and has a beautiful clean beach , perfect for children to play and long bracing walks . Nearby Bempton Cliffs is well worth a visit, particularly during early summer when the puffins are nesting .

Lovely village with all amenities, 3 great pubs, close to bus stop, kept tidy and within 3 miles of the coast. A walk across fields would bring the coast at Filey within 2 miles for the more active person. Our favourite place to eat was the White swan about 7 minutes walk away. Personally I would avoid going to Bridlington again as I thought it was quite run down compared to Filey and Whitby which was excellent. Also flamborough head is well worth a visit.

The purpose of our trip to Hunmanby was a tour of the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery. I would definitely recommend the tour and a visit to their Pot Still coffee shop where we enjoyed a lovely (pre-ordered) afternoon tea. The other food looked delicious and the service was first class!
