The Castle Hotel is such close walk from the train station. We were greeted warmly and offered afternoon snacks, sandwiches and quiche. Was simply lovely after a long day of travel.

We didn't receive the host's instructions as to how to get there and our Sat Nav directed us through farms and dirt roads, and to the wrong house, but once we arrived all was well. We had the upper floor to ourselves, so although the toilet was out of our room, it was easily accessible. The breakfast was excellent. The host was very kind to our grandchildren. This was a very good location for seeing Bamburgh Castle and Holy Isle.

This is a very quiet village with just one pub which serves meals of an average standard. If you want a break away with peace and quiet when you return from a busy day out, then this is the place for you. If you want a village with lots of facilities then this is certainly not for you.
