If you're planning on staying at Waldegrave Farm, come down to breakfast with a good appetite! You probably won't need much in the way of lunch. Excellent bedroom and bathroom, and a very friendly host. Our 2nd visit and we hope to return.

Hotel is historic and full of charm. Food is varied and delicious. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner twice each. Comfortable beds, rooms had robes and spa toiletries. Spa was lovely.

The location of the hotel is perfect and within walking distance of everything in the village. If you want a luxury hotel this is not for you, but if you are looking for a basic, warm, clean central hotel with good service this is perfect.

Lovely old house; great location; helpful and attentive hosts. The breakfast was good--with lots of moving parts--cereal and fruit; yogurts; breads; and the full English fry-up. The big hit here is the house, which is a beautiful half-timbered. early modern place. Our room was up some stairs and down a corridor but off by itself and quiet with a nice view of the sprawling well-tended garden.
Clearly a lot of attention has gone into anticipating what guests might need and providing it--for example, toothpicks on the table. Everything seemed meticulously organized in support of visitors.

Didn't go into the village this time, but there is a nice church, a village green, and the Crown Inn does an honest pint and a good dinner - don't miss the coins nailed to the fireplace in 1914 and 1939 by those local lads going off to fight in the world wars who didn't return to spend them...

Very quaint village. The Green is picturesque and quiet.
Very quaint village. The Green is picturesque and quiet. The Pub (the Crown), which is set back from the Green, was very welcoming, had a wide range of drinks available and the food very well cooked. It has a large outside area to relax within. There are plenty of fields to walk dogs and from the hills there are picturesque views to appreciate.
Bring a torch as there is little street lighting around the Green.
There is only a butcher's shop in Hartest and the nearest town with grocery shops is 4 miles away
