The location was quite good overlooking a green area; the room itself was an adequate size. Breakfast was very nice but not worth £20 each in my view.

The elegant spa town of Harrogate has some of England’s finest Victorian architecture. Lush greenery and colourful flowers also add to the stately atmosphere.
The main attraction is the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, in a 19th-century building which maintains its original Moorish interior design. Nearby is the Royal Pump Room Museum, set over Europe’s strongest sulphur well and detailing the town’s history.
One ongoing Harrogate institution is Bettys Tea Rooms which serves fabulous afternoon tea. Surrounded by the unique shops of the Montpellier Quarter, it overlooks gardens which continue south to meet The Stray – over 200 acres of parkland whose vibrant spring blossom is quite a sight. On the opposite side of town are the Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, whose bandstand hosts summer concerts. The gardens merge into a pine wood which neighbours the acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.
Aside from its visual beauty, the town is also important for conferences. Harrogate International Centre is one of the UK’s top convention venues - just one of the reasons why the accommodation industry here is thriving.
Options on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments near the train station, and guest houses with parking. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport to the south.
Beautiful town… definitely recommend Harry’s walking tour. (Free and very entertaining and informative) we have a tip at the end of it.
Felt safe, lots of restaurants, shops and history. The valley gardens were fabulous too.

Harrogate is lovely and our only regrets were the food on offer in the hotel restaurant plus the attempt to rip me off when the bill came. And we would have liked a bit more time so as to visit Bettys tea shop

Harrogate is a very pretty town and makes a good base to explore the area. It has lots of good restaurants like Piccolino, The Tannin Level or Oliveta and many great cafés including the famous Betty's. There aren't many sights in the town but it's very pleasant just to walk around and enjoy the architecture and gardens. Harlow Carr RHS Gardens is worth a visit. Historic York is only a 35 minute train ride away and gorgeous Knaresborough only 15 minutes on the same route.
Still, you'll need quite deep pockets as everything is at least as expensive as in London.

RHS Harlow Carr is my favourite place to visit and the purpose of my trip. I ate at the Old Swan Hotel where I stayed. Pretty easy to get around although there are a lot of one way streets and sometimes it is tricky to drive down some of them due to double parking on each side as the roads can be quite narrow. I would keep to the main roads next time.

Harrogate is a lovely spa town with picturesque gardens, lovely shops and a lot of historic buildings. Everything is within easy walking distance if a bit hilly. Harrogate has a great choice of places to eat. we will return.
Lovely hotel with a nice relaxed feel. Nice bar and breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. The staff at breakfast were happy and helpful.
Car park felt secure. It was relatively easy to sort payment at reception.
Location is excellent. Walking distance of everything you need in Harrogate and perfect for the conference centre.
Room was comfy and quiet. Lovely and dark at night too. The black out curtains are great.
The hotel is in a historic building and conveniently located to walk around Harrogate. We had a car and they had a good size garage (extra cost) so we were able to park easily. There was a very nice restaurant/pub and we took advantage to have drinks there. They also have a variety of outdoor seating. The room and bathroom were nice sized.
The hotel and grounds and beautiful and a short walking distance to the centre of Harrogate. The bed was very comfortable but I would have preferred a king size bed. I booked an accessible room as I am recovering from a broken ankle and the facilities were excellent and I felt well looked after. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi we also excellent.
The hotel is lovely and Patrick and Nick were fab hosts. Food was great. Location just a short walk from the centre of Harrogate. I badly sprained my ankle on the last day and the guys were very helpful and bought our breakfast to the room as we were on the second floor. You will not be disappointed if you stay here.
Lovely old grand hotel within a 5-minute walk from Harrogate town centre. Parking is on-site, although administered by Harrogate Borough Council so a charge is applicable. Dog friendly too so even better. We only stayed one night and skipped breakfast so can't really comment any further.
Comfortable beds; window could open; aircon understandable and controllable; bath flat so better for showering; self service teas/ coffees topped up each day; excellent breakfast; staff friendly ... it's the way a half decent hotel ought to be but so few are!
Perfect location, close to the town centre and the lovely Harrogate Stray. We only stayed overnight so didn't really make much use of the facilities but have been to the hotel restaurant in the past and know its very nice as well
The staff are very helpful. Although the hotel looks old, it's surprisingly clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, very near to the city center. I'll definitely stay here if I ever come to Harrogate again.
The cleanliness of the hotel and the nicely decorated room.
The shower was so easy to use.
The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk to the centre of Harrogate.
We would highly recommend the Grafton.
