An old hunting lodge/country house about 5 miles from the main town Portree. Well furnished with classic wood panelled breakfast room and modern conservatory restaurant with extensive views over the loch. Luxurious room. Nice walk to local island with ancient ruined chapel. Very friendly staff-especially Sue in the breakfast room who was so helpful. An excellent stay celebrating a special anniversary

This area is an absolute gem if you are looking to...
This area is an absolute gem if you are looking to experience Skye without the tourists. There is incredible scenery, Highland coos, plenty of walks, and always some fresh eggs to purchase from one of the honesty boxes. There also happens to be a Michelin starred restaurant down the road, with a tasting menu that takes you right into waters of the surrounding bay. It was divine. BUT be sure to book in advance! A stop at the little local gallery is also a must if you are keen on art and supporting local, as well as Skye Skyns if you are on the hunt for ethically sourced cow/sheep/deer skin rugs or clothing.

Good location for walks and to reach some popular attractions of Skye. Dunvegan is nearby (9 miles) with its castle, a few pubs and shops. Portree is about 30 min drive as well. Coral beach, Dunvegan, Talisker, Fairy pools and old man of stor are all within 20-30 min drive and easily accessible from Hallin. On a quiet days there are also some walks nearby, and a tea / coffee place by Skyeskin (1 mile). Definetely recommended for an active holiday

We visited the Coral Beach by Dunvegan, which is a must.
We visited the Coral Beach by Dunvegan, which is a must. A piece of paradise that on a sunny day would confuse you to believe you could be in the Bahamas! We stopped in for a coffee and cake in the recently reopened Dunvegan hotel - which is dog friendly - and booked for their tapas night on the Wednesday. We were facilitated in the bar area by the fire, and it was perfect for all three of us.
We took the ferry across to Raasay from Sconser. My husband had worked here previously and gave me a guided tour by car. The weather wasn’t the best, but this did not detract from the truly awesome views. We stopped for a walk at the end of Calum’s road and made our way to the shore, where we spotted seals. We also stopped for lunch at one of the highest points and were ambushed by some locals ... the wild pigs.
The next day we had perfect weather for a walk up Glen Brittle and the Fairy Pools. Stunning!! We continued up beyond the pools and went off piste where we discovered some sheep free land where Mylo could run about and have a swim and play in the water. We discovered a cave and had more amazing views!
On our final night we treated ourselves to a meal at the Michelin starred LochBay restaurant in Stein - just a 10 minute drive. We had the five course seafood taster menu which was amazing. Highly recommend going here.
