Low Wood Bay, hotel in Great Langdale

In a most spectacular location on the shores of England’s longest lake, Windermere, Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa is the Lake District’s first resort offering a number of facilities.

I booked Low Wood as I was there for afternoon tea and spa day I a few weeks ago. I did think that the spa would of been included however this was additional 65 per person.

In the heart of Grasmere and surrounded by the towering mountains of the Lake District, the historic 4-star Wordsworth Hotel is set in riverside gardens and has an award-winning restaurant.

Excellent hotel, well situated within the small village providing an excellent base for trips out around the area. The hotel and all their staff were very accommodating at meeting my additional request and in fact exceeded them far beyond what I had hoped for. Lovely experience for our two night stay highly recommend.

The location was perfect were the staff apart from one bar man, he was the shorter of two (on duty 20/6/24). He was extremely rude no interaction except for telling you the cost, no please or thank you from him. I complained about him and was told that he has had bad week due to car problems, Boo Hoo. He should not be in the hospitality trade.

    Breathtakingly beautiful!

Breathtakingly beautiful! A joy to be walking in the hills, enjoying God’s outstanding creation! We stayed at the spectacular New Dungeon Ghyll and from there, we started our first wild camping adventure near Stickle Tarn as a married couple.

Probably the most scenic part of the Lake District.

Probably the most scenic part of the Lake District. Plenty of places to stay or eat. The road is quite narrow in places which means it can be slow going at times (especially weekends) . Bus service every 2 hours along the valley. Car Parks a plenty but can fill up very quickly, especially at weekends.

Was spotless staff were friendly and helpful, with amazing views . Food was good our only problem was on last day breakfast we waited 25 mins and when it did come it was cold the day before was hot and plentiful. Beautiful surroundings.

Beautiful surroundings. An ideal stopover for walking the Cumbria Way. A warm welcome from Finn and Marina in the very comfortable New Dungeon Ghyll hotel with good beer and excellent food. The local National Trust bar called Sticklebarn is next door to the hotel which is warm and inviting and serves refreshments and food until 5:30pm. The choice of real ales is also very good. There is nothing else here except beautiful scenery, sheep and walks. It has everything one needs.

The manager (I think) who checked me in went out of his way to make sure everything was ok from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. He also made room for us at dinner (we'd forgotten to book and it was fully booked). The cleaner was also freindly and happy to help when I could'nt find the towels (they were in a cupboard in the room but I hadnt checked!). A number of walks could be done straight from the hotel - this was fantastic. Close to Grasmere and Ambleside - brilliant.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Morning breakfasts were delicious and the waitress was very lovely and served us in great time even during a very busy morning. Location was amazing and quiet, the hidden waterfall behind the hotel was a great hike. A short drive from nearby town, made for gorgeous scenery on route to the hotel.

Great location for exploring Langdale valley and mountains. After a day hiking in challenging weather the adjoining Walkers Bar with its fire and decent bar was welcome. Good food too. Choice of eating in Walkers bar or in the restaurant. My room was spot on. Didn't want for anything.

We had a nice welcome, the room was as expected, a good size. The evening meal was lovely, and the full Cumbrian breakfast was delicious. The location of the new dungeon Ghyll is unbeatable, right in the very heart of the Langdales, so many walking routes from the doorstep.

Location couldn't be better for us. All the walks we wanted to do could be done straight from the hotel (Eastdale Tarn, Stickle Tarn, Angle Tarn and Scaffell Pike). The location of the hotel is so picturesque, beautiful. Members of staff are just wonderful.
