The property is beautiful. You can hike the trails, pet the horses, walk by the stream. It’s like a fairy tale. It was close enough to Edinburgh but also very remote. The staff was friendly.

We enjoyed our stay there. The room was interesting. The food and drinks were excellent. Hot water that didn't take forever to get there. The grounds were very well kept. The on-site falconry lesson were very awesome too.

It is across the street from a pub with good food and a 5 minute walk from Roslyn Chapel. Parking is on site and easy. Rooms are big and very clean. The owner is great. Nice little treats in the room, along with tea and kettle.

We loved EVERYTHING, this was our first international trip and we could not have found a more gracious, caring host and lovely room and grounds. Very quiet and peaceful surroundings, very easy to get around on the bus or rail to Edinburgh and the Royal Mile. Room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast were delightful and very filling and our host also provided advise to sights and attractions. Wish we could have stayed longer. I look forward to staying here again on our next visit to beautiful Scotland.

Peaceful picturesque setting and located in a quiet village away from the hustle and bustle but only a short drive away from various activities and about 30 minutes car drive from Edinburgh which was just about right.

The Arches was a comfortable place to stay.
The Arches was a comfortable place to stay. The hosts, Jude and Phil, were friendly, helpful and well informed about local amenities and sites of interest. Check out the Ormskirk Yew-truly amazing. And the great cafe and shop in Humbie. The Italian eatery in Gorebridge is authentic and the food and staff are so good-we went twice (119). Direlton is a sedate village and nearby Yellowcraig has a gorgeous beach and nature reserve.

The cabins are extremely dissertations inside and poorly cleaned much like the shower and toilets which felt very unstable. Our cabin did not have outside seating or fencing like the pictures suggest, we were also forced to walk 40 mins to the nearest pub as their was no bbq to cook the food we had bought. My partner and i had booked two nights however we left after the first, i have since tried to contact the owners for a refund on our second night however they have not replied. They have been extremely unhelpful throughout our experience and did not reply to texts or calls when we were trying to find the site. Would not recommend

The cabin and toilets could have been cleaner.
The cabin and toilets could have been cleaner. We had cobwebs inside our cabin. Toilets were smelly, not clean and there were no bins in the toilet. There is a huge potential for the place to be lovely. Even a wee trim of the grass would have made the place look better. Lots of biting insects, so take insect repellent. I would recommend eating at Miss Woo's in Leith and we got a good voucher for the zoo. It's about a 25 minute drive to both.
