The Tempest Arms is in a peaceful and quiet location. Immediately entering the Inn, we were greeted by the friendly bar staff who directed us to reception, where we again were greeted warmly.
Breakfast and dinner were excellent on both days of our stay. Staff in the dining area were brilliant and totally made our stay memorable for all the right reasons.
Our room was very comfortable and provided lovely views.
We highly recommend and most definitely will return if we are fortunate to have the opportunity to visit again.

Gargrave is only a small village but there is a supermarket, garden centre and a few shops and places to eat and drink. It depends what you want from a holiday. If you're looking for "lively" then this is not the place for you. If you're happy with peace and quiet then this is it. Skipton is a lovely town to visit, especially when the market is on. If you have a car, a trip to Boundary Mill at Colne is highly recommended. You can spend a good few hours there browsing around the store. We ate at our hotel every night so cannot recommend anywhere in Gargrave to eat.

A quiet location, the local people are friendly and the eating establishments excellent. When the river is low, below the bridge leading to the Church, you can see and paddle on an old Roman road. The Co-op is well provisioned for those eating in and there is a pharmacy if needed. Ideally located to explore the Dales we visited Ribblehead, Hawes & Malham Cove.

There was nothing to dislike at Gargrave, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent, we didn't always have dinner at the restaurant, ate in the bar sometimes and food was good. Drinks rather expensive and if staying for a week or more can turn out very expensive as spa etc are all extras. Will visit again.

All of the rooms are on the ground floor making disabled access very easy and convenient to the reception and dining room. Gargeave is in beautiful countryside and the hotel is set well back from the main road, well lit and quiet.
On a future visit I would look for a more atmospheric local restaurant in which to dine.

Lovely little town/village both sides of A65.
Charming walks available both sides of main road
Lovely walk available by canal, however long you want it.
Easy parking.Nice little tea shops. Easy route by car from Gargrave to Malham.
En route to other charming places including Settle and Clapham and eventually to the Lake district.
Absolutely everything!
The location in Gargrave village is fabulous. A very quick walk to the pub, shop, country walks and canal walks.
The house itself is just wonderful. Incredibly clean and well appointed. The decor is lovely and it has everything you could need for any length of stay. The welcome basket and treats make you feel very special.
The owner is very friendly and super helpful. It’s a huge bonus that we can bring our dog also. And there are even supplies and treats for them too!
Bailey Cottage is based in great location, Gargrave is a lovely village with plenty places to eat, train station and bus connections. The Cottage itself is very specious and well equipped. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, cottage gave us an opportunity to feel comfortable and chill our walks. Not far from Malham (famous Malham Cove walk), great connection to Skipton too (you can walk alongside Leeds- Liverpool canal). Bailey Cottage is highly recommended with every aspect.
Upgrade to bigger and quieter room Sunday night was great, thank you.
The food has really improved since our last visit in September 2021, and the service was good under the circumstances that staff were very busy.
Staff were great, helpful, polite and understanding. They are the hotels best asset and need more support to do their job in a better way.
Warm, comfy, clean.
Love the paintings around the hotel.
Breakfast is fabulous - best eggs benedict ever!
A charming cottage, it’s really well equipped for a holiday let, far better than others we have stayed in. The wood burner adds to the character and charm. We’re likely to book again. The location is great, Gargrave itself has lovely walks from the door with easy access to the wider Dales. The Masons arms is a really good pub, great food. The old Swan was handy.
Gargrave is a lovely friendly village with great road connections to all possible Yorkshire walks. Quite a few starts at the doorstep of the cottage. The cottage is in a quiet location but close enough to the main road. The rooms are spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. The kitchen has everything you need, including coffee pods for the Nespresso machine :)
The room was excellent with every facility and a great view of the lake and scenery. The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. The hotel in general is well appointed and immaculately clean.
As mentioned the food and drinks were of a high standard and well presented. The estate has good walking opportunities.
Cottage was very welcoming, comfortable and homely with a high standard of fixtures and fittings. Very cosy when fire is lit. Exceptional bathroom with very comfy bath.
Gargrave is a charming village with easy access to the Dales and immediate access to the very picturesque section of the Leeds Liverpool Canal.
Restaurants and bars had excellent choice of food and drink and all local produce. Staff excellent. Breakfast really good. This is a great hotel but not for kids as nothing to do. It's certainly more for rest and relaxing with lovely surrounding area.
Beautiful property in a lovely location of Gargrave village within easy reach of the north west area of the Yorkshire Dales. Lovely pub and Indian restaurant within 5 minutes walk. Good public transport links.
Gargrave is a very nice village with 2 pubs serving good food. Th village green, directly outside the property is very popular and a great place to exercise your dog.
