The Castle Hotel is such close walk from the train station. We were greeted warmly and offered afternoon snacks, sandwiches and quiche. Was simply lovely after a long day of travel.

We didn't receive the host's instructions as to how to get there and our Sat Nav directed us through farms and dirt roads, and to the wrong house, but once we arrived all was well. We had the upper floor to ourselves, so although the toilet was out of our room, it was easily accessible. The breakfast was excellent. The host was very kind to our grandchildren. This was a very good location for seeing Bamburgh Castle and Holy Isle.

Steve was as warm and welcoming as the property. Great location if you’re exploring Holy Island and other glorious destinations in the area. And the breakfast was the best in alllll of the b&b’s I’ve ever stayed. Plus, I loved their sweet little kitty cats.

The cottage is not in East Ord, but a small community called Scremerston. It’s on a quiet road just off the A1, with lots of good walks for the dogs.
There is an excellent cafe a short walk up the road , which does reasonable priced full breakfast. ie bacon butty £3.20, plus fantastic cakes.
All places of interest are within a short driving distance. Really a very nice quiet area to stay.
