Nearby village Moniaive has more facilities including a great Italian restaurant. Dumfries, the county town, is a short drive away for all main shopping and amenities. This is an area for people who crave a quiet rural lifestyle holiday away from tourist crowds. We didn't visit the village as it was a place to pass...
We didn't visit the village as it was a place to pass through on the search for attractions and facilities, although the accommodation is in easy reach of the main roads and the quietness is a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle and traffic queues, even the potholes add a charming character to the roads and remind you that you are in the countryside, where other things take precedence.
As the hosts were so welcoming, it is just a pure pleasure to be in this part of South West Scotland.
