Perfect location! Right at the heart of Kirkcudbright and an easy walk to the river and to the rest of the town. The room was very spacious for a single. It was decorated to a high quality and immaculately clean. Breakfast, from the Full Scottish to the porridge was very generous and delicious. All of the staff I met were friendly and welcoming. The skies in that part of the world are amazing. My room was at the front and I had stunning evening sky views towards the sunset.

The location is excellent being right in the centre of Kirkcudbright. The room was warm on arrival which we appreciated as the weather was very cold. It was clean and the bed comfortable and we were pleased to find tea making facilities in the room.

Dundrennen is a small and generally quiet village by the Abbey. and we chose it for access to other places as we were visiting for Dumfries and Galloway "Spring Fling" where artists open their studios or work spaces over 3 days. This is recommended if you are staying almost anywhere in the county for the late May Bank Holiday - there will be one or more artists or craftsperson within reach whether by car, bicycle or by joining one of the minibus tours. Kirkcudbright also provides walking tours in the town.

This is a brilliant property for those who want to get away from it all and love nature and the countryside, but remember that there is no electricity. The owners supply battery operated lamps but bringing your own USB charged lamps and a power pack or two is definitely a good idea. remember too that the track is long and although well maintained it is not suitable for low slung vehicles.

Dundrennan is a very small place, and also the last place in Scotland for Mary Stuart before she set sail for England across the Solway Firth . The Abbey which she visited is very close to the Accommodation .
Many restaurants in Kirkudbright, and the unique Orchardston Tower nearby is worth a visit.

Dundrennan was very quiet, which we like, but it was within a short drive of the sea and other towns. The abbey was next to the B&B and we found it interesting to know that it was where Mary Queen of Scots spent her last night in Scotland before being exciled to England in 1568.
