It was very peaceful and secluded, not overlooked at all. Myself and my husband were really surprised how well we got on without technology...we actually spoke to each other! I read a book by the lake, which was so beautiful, not another soul around. We even adapted to cooking, showering and toileting outside, the facilities were great so it wasn't too hard to adjust. The owners were really helpful, got whatever we needed. We can't wait to return.

The ground are beautiful. Beyond that it is a mess. The drawing room ceiling is falling apart. The wooden stairs to our room are in the beginning stages of desperate repair. The layout of the bathroom was strange.

We wanted a romantic weekend away, visiting the waterfalls at Devils Bridge and the Red Kite feeding centre at Bwlch Nant yr Arian. We returned via the mountain pass road that led us to the Elan Valley and reservoirs which was awesome We will probably return so we can ride on the Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway

A great area to enjoy the magnificent scenery and mountains of this part of Wales. The falls were in full flow and were really good to see and the walks at the nearby Hafod Estate, were varied for all types of walkers

Two levels of walks round the Falls, the short walk is obviously less intense and good for doing if you have caught the train from Aberystwyth and need to get back. The longer Falls walk is so scenic it is worth doing and taking your time, though is a tough walk. The Bridges can be seen from both walks, shops and staff friendly and helpful. Gifts, ice creams, drinks and chocolate available.

The site is challenging for our age ( 60 's ) but we enjoyed the excercise. Plenty of resting seats on the way up the falls. We liked the shape of the surrounding rocks that the water had carved out. Glad we made the effort at the top we sat and had a drink outside The Hafod Hotel . Later bought chocolate from the Chocolate Shop. We caught the steam train to Aberystwyth and back . Unfortunately we had to stay on the train as there was no later train return. We travelled first class to give ourselves a treat, the train journey is expensive but we enjoyed wewon't need to do that again. The food at the Hafod Hotel was good, well presented and tasty. You can sit inside or out. My husband enjoyed the lager Carling said it was a great pint. Plenty of walking routes. A nice cafe at the train station.

It's a great but hard walk, Just pay attention to the signs, wear good footwear and take your time, Also ensure you take water and food with you, in case you need to stop to recover some strength Totally worth your time, just don't be in a rush

Wow! Beautiful setting, walking distance to the Devils Bridge falls and Hafod. Spaced out properties and a lovely play area and on-site catering. Such friendly staff and the bungalow is very thoughtfully equipped; radios, hairdryer, PS3 and dishwasher in addition to full kitchen equipment. So comfortable we slept better than at home. Really private and quiet with lovely views, even little rabbits having breakfast outside each morning!

Dramatic architecture adjacent to the magnificent Devils Bridge Falls. Large bar/restaurant serving good food. Comfortable rooms. Silly tiny sink in our room, spilling water on the floor all the time! (an add-on en-suite, I guess) But my daughters twin room in the “attic” had rustic beams and a gigantic bathroom with a dramatic standalone bathtub! Good breakfasts. Friendly staff.

Everything, from start to finish, was perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful, the view from the room was incredible. The dinner, which was included in the price, was superb and breakfast was delicious. The hotel location is perfect for the steam train to Aber and the walks at Devil’s Bridge. Cannot recommend The Hafod highly enough.

I loved everything about this trip. The hotel and it's location were spectacular. Our suite was so comfortable. The hotel is obviously very old and historic but unbelievably well maintained and spotlessly clean. The staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious. I was genuinely sad to leave and can't wait to visit again.

We have travelled all over the world often staying in very nice hotels. This is the best we have stayed in. Nicest, warmest and most helpful staff imaginable. Lovely old fashioned building rich in history. Picturesque spot. Food excellent and great value. Our 30th wedding anniversary could not have been better. Thankyou.

Really comfortable recently refurbished room. Spotlessly clean. Helpful friendly staff. Outside seating for evening meals was reasonably and has views over the valley but a busy road between the seating area and the hotel is quite a challenge for staff at lunch time and into the afternoon.

Good Breakfast and dinner. Very welcoming staff. Good for a stop over on the way into or out of Aberystwyth - had always wanted to stay here. Went to visit Devils bridge which is nearby. The steam train is also right near by as well as a tea room so not completely isolated.
