From the moment we arrived we were blown away!
Not only is the hotel a stunning building and in a stunning lakeside location, the staff are super friendly. We were given a glass of Prosecco on arrival and personally shown to our room. We felt like nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a cocktail that evening after making use of the pool, steam room and sauna and it was delicious! With views over the lake it was a perfect weekend getaway.

Nice hotel situated in manicured hillside gardens - staff were friendly and efficient - our room was clean and well equipped - food was very good except for the breakfast sausages which were nasty!

It was a long drive inside from the main highway but once we reached the place , it was a hidden gem with absolutely stunning views.
The breakfast was very nice with fresh ingredients, my husband loved the fresh salmon on his toast and I enjoyed the vegan grilled plate .
The view from the restaurant was to die for .
We had a lovely stay 😊
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast is amazing as well as other meals. Such a wonderful place to stay and our dogs were very welcomed. Will definitely stay again as close to Windermere and Ambleside making them great days out

The cottage was absolutely beautiful, a real home from home.
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, a real home from home. It was equipped with everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. Views from the cottage were lovely looking over the countryside. The garden was nice although we didn't sit out but is ideal for anyone with children or dogs as its fully enclosed. The roads to the cottage were quite narrow but certainly didn't put us off, as this is the case with a lot of roads in the area. It was ideally located 15 mins from Windermere and same to Kendal. Would recommend the Old Watermill pub for eating out, they are dog friendly and the food is beautiful but not too pricey. Will definitely book again.

The facilities are dated and all be aware the dogs are noisy especially if left in rooms on their own , and with being a dog friendly hotel , it should be identified that the rooms are not up to the cleanliness of a normal hotel, any movement in the night, the dogs bark and when one starts, they all go for it.

We loved the location but you need transport.
We loved the location but you need transport. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a rural location this is a great location.
It is only a 15 min drive into Bowness so a busier, tourist location is nearby. The location is good for both central and south Lakes. We would recommend.

Not much to say because there isn't much in the village except a very nice pub/restaurant. However, returning to the solitude of the village after a day with the tourist masses in Windermere, Ambleside etc is welcome. There are some lovely walks around the village into the hills, though we didn't tread them on this occasion.

Liked that the location although it seemed a bit out of the way was very tranquil, and considering how busy bowness was, it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle, but a good location for driving to and from the lakes. The hotel itself in parts looked a bit dated, but was very clean, pool and steam room were good, didn't use the gym so can't comment, overall it is a hotel I would definitely return to.
We loved the hotel room, we got a free upgrade to a family room which was a perfect size and had access to the outside grounds via French doors.
The gym and sports facilities were good, not amazing but did the job for someone who wants to keep their fitness up while staying away. Now the best thing hands down was the food. Me and my partner were absolutely obsessed with the food. Delicious, generous portions and home cooked at extremely fair prices. We both said that we would both come back for the food alone.
The location is stunning with beautiful gardens and scenery. Dinner at the bar was lovely and I was blown away with how pet-friendly the hotel was. Our dog was allowed to go everywhere that we went, including to dinner/breakfast. There is a lovely pond with ducks and ample space for children to play, dogs to play, picnics, etc. The menu had a good variety of options and despite COVID, it was easy to order items from the bar, etc. Well done :)
The 2nd room we were given was a vast improvement on the first which was shocking. We paid £195 per night and were shown into a small dank room with a broken dressing table a tiny grubby bathroom. We had to stay in this room for 1 out of our 3 night stay. The subsequent room was an improvement, a decent size and a much larger bathroom which was clean and well maintained. The hotel waiting staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient.
The hotel staff were great. Pleasant, helpful, and friendly. The location was a little hard to get to, but close to Lake Windemere, but on a heavy traffic narrow road. However the food was very good. Breakfasts were good and promply served and the dinners were excellent and generous portions. The setting was scenic and quiet.. It was a pleasant stay overall, in spite of the accessibility issues.
Lady on reception was brilliant, so friendly and very helpful.
Hotel is in a beautiful setting, with lots of parking spaces.
Room was great, really spacious, clean and bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was really good, plenty of choice.
Swimming pool is nice and clean as were the changing facilities.
Would recommend and hope to stay again.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting. Very picturesque place. Our rooms were really lovely. I travelled with my sister in law and we both had a room with a four poster bed. Lovely en-suites. Great place for getting into windermere and surrounding areas.
Staff were lovely. Food was great.
The staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean, tidy and relaxed atmosphere. We ate in and were very pleased with the quality and price. The gardens were fabulous too!! From our room window we saw ducks, moorhens, pheasants, rabbits, pheasants, deer and an owl. Fabulous setting.
It was so peaceful , the hotel is in a beautiful setting , food was amazing, staff were very friendly and helpful , we were there for our wedding anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make it perfect for us 😀
Excellent location fabulous views from hotel,
Food at breakfast and evening was fantastic.. every member of staff was really nice and very helpful .. the variety of food on the menu covered everything you'd need ..
The breakfast was lovely and high quality and the staff were all very friendly, especially with our little girl. There were tea and coffee making facilities in room and the hotel is in a very lovely location
