We liked the communication with the manager, Declan, who made the reservation easy and clear. The B&B is on the ground respecting the time when Irish people had to endure hard times. The rooms are as good as in any good hotel.
Situated in Newry, Flagstaff Lodge features free private parking. The hotel has a sun terrace and views of the mountains, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or a drink at the bar.

What was not to like! Honestly, it is such a beautiful place to stay. You wouldn't think you were in Newry. The cottage we stayed in was spotless, warm, cosy and welcoming - home made wheaten and scones. The views, the area was stunning and tranquil and hot tubs with a view.
Thank you Pauline for being so welcoming.
We are hoping to be back 😊
Crossmaglen is a small town in South Armagh and so we were...
Crossmaglen is a small town in South Armagh and so we were prepared for this. However, we were unaware that the Cross Hotel provides the only restaurant in the town. Therefore, unless you want to eat takeaway food, you are very limited in your choice.
The manager and staff at the Cross Hotel are doing everything to keep their staff and customers safe, however, the same is not true for the rest of the town. The bars are full and there is no real social distancing being practiced. We were surprised by this level of complacency.
Location is very peaceful, and the house is lovely. The nearby town of Crossmaglen has a great pizzeria (Mario's) and chinese takeout (Kams). Everyone we met there were very nice especially the host. I would definitely recommend.
The second bedroom could do with a bedside table, and the sofa could also do with another coffee table at the other end. Lastly, in the summer months when the nights are short, blinds on the windows are very helpful.
The location of the cottage is a great central location, we were visiting family in crossmaglen so was perfect for that location and surrounding areas. The views outside are amazing and the owner was really nice helpful and welcoming. He couldn’t have done anymore than he did to make our stay comfortable. We will definetly be back
Owenies Cottage was perfect for a peaceful get away! Sandra was so welcoming and attentive when we arrived! We will certainly be returning in the near future.
