Converted from an 18th-century farmstead, Battlesteads is a stylish country inn with an 80-seat restaurant. It is set in beautiful countryside close to the Roman Wall.

Small quiet town. Nice dinner and breakfast. Staff were very helpful. Beergarden in back was nice.

Friendly welcome, very comfortable room, good cereal selection in the room, a good location just a short bus ride from the Hadrian's Wall trail. Plus a good pint downstairs!

This hostel is a great facility only 3 miles from Hadrians wall. There is kitchen facilities, the showers are good, the place is clean and the village is quaint.

The George Hotel could be great but it lacks the final polish. It is in a very picturesque position and more should be made of it. The cuisine should be reviewed as at present it is not acceptable. Service is good but the hotel lacks the personal feeling. If it makes the effort and up's it's approach to customer satisfaction it will be a great hotel and a great venue for functions like weddings etc

The trip was planned to view Roman architecture in Chollerford and the surrounding area, should have allocated an extra day. So much to see. Very helpful staff at the English Heritage sites. Great area to visit.

Beautiful surroundings and a good location for visiting loads of local attractions. Sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and soaking up the view was brilliant. The hotel staff were great and the whole place had a busy, buzzy feel. The only downside is the hotel needs redecorating.

It was a good place to stay for travelling around to visit different places, we have never been to Northumberland before but found it very interesting & we were very lucky with the weather which made it very pleasant for outside tours ECT.
This is a tricky review to write; the George Hotel did some things incredibly well, but missed the mark massively on others.
- the gentleman who checked us in and out in the morning was incredibly helpful and kind. I really enjoyed the transaction. I can say the other staff were also very good. Despite previous reviews I really didn’t have any problems with staff at all.
- on the whole I thought breakfast was good, but it wasn’t great.
- comfy bed
- quiet
We walked to Chollerford as part of our Hadrian's Wall hike. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed after a long day of walking. Our room and bathroom were very modern and the views were fantastic. The pool onsite was very helpful for aching legs. We got the half board and thus worked out to be one of the cheaper places we stayed at along the wall, as we did not have to pay additional for dinner.
The location of the hotel on the banks of the River North Tyne was delightful especially on a sunny day such as we had. Drinks in the evening on the terrace was a very pleasant experience. We also enjoyed the use of the swimming pool which we had to ourselves because of the Covid booking situation. We felt safe using the facilities.
Very dated hotel which needs a complete overhaul. Worked for us as it was a great location for walking Hadriens Wall. But the rooms are not up to standards, the hotel is not a 3 star, and it really needs a complete refurbishment. We did not like our first room so got split into 2 other rooms for our 2 night stay.
After reading reviews I wasn’t expecting it to be great but we stayed in room 315 and it was lovely. The bed was so comfy, shower was great, food was nice in the hotel & there was a pool & gym. We played the giant chess set in the garden. Staff were friendly
We stayed here for 1 night whilst completing the Hadrians Wall walk so the swimming pool was a welcome extra. The rooms were good despite being a little tired. The view from room overelooking the gardens and the river were lovely.
Location is magical bordering the river The bar and restaurant overlook the garden which is also gorgeous staff were lovely. I have often admired this hotel when driving around the area. So pleased to have ticked off my bucket list
The hotel is in a lovely setting, the staff are very friendly and the bedrooms and public rooms are well appointed. The staff even surprised me with a specially decorated table for my birthday!
