the staff incredibly nice and helpful. Great quiet location, perfect with toddlers when the sun is out.
The room was large
The food (dinner and breakfast) was a little simplistic but still good and good value for money
We would definitely recommend the place

A small town, not many places to eat out...we ate where we stayed at The Bath House Hotel and restaurant - a Malaysian fusion restaurant, rather pricey but a nice meal. A good base to travel on from or go to places to visit - we had a day in Sidmouth from Chard , so an easy place to travel from!!

Very disappointed with Chard, a very sad town with little going for it. Expected a pleasant, country town but Chard certainly was not. Rough pubs, takeaways, boarded up premises & several locals who appeared to be under the influence. I would not recommend, avoid!!

Chard itself didn't seem to have lots to offer although the Wetherspoons was clean and always available. It is a good location and base for what we wanted, which was visiting East Devon, West Dorset and West Somerset.
The weather was foul some days but we can't blame Chard for that!

Once arrived at the Haymaker, all the staff were very friendly and helpful with everything I asked. Room was very spacious, clean, fresh towels , tea, coffee, bottled water replaced every day. Breakfast was amazing, even had gluten free options. We ate there couple times, friends joined us one night and commented how good the food was. We're going back again soon

It was a very pleasant stay.
It was a very pleasant stay. Great location in the village of Chard. Great that they had there own parking. The room was adequate, nice and clean. Although it was a last minute trip so we got the last room. The shower was lovely and hot. Very quiet location. The breakfast was really good . Trudie, David and there lovely dog Chester, were all very friendly and gave us lots of advice on where we were visiting.
I would definitely recommend and quite happy to stay there again.

Small and well located in the Somerset country side with easy links to the south coast, motorways and many other places in Somerset, Devon and Dorset. Chard has plenty of shopping facilities and places to eat and drink. The people are friendly, polite and helpful.
This is a lovely family run hotel/pub in Wadebridge a village outside of Chard. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and we had a fabulous full English breakfast the first morning and two lovely meals in the evenings. The owners and staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. For us it was a quiet base to explore the local countryside with the bonus of a pint of ale to relax with at the end of the day without having to worry about driving.
Easy to find. We arrived around 9.30pm in the evening and had to try to find someone to check us in. But all very pleasant when we got to the room.
We received an email after booking to warn us that the hotel would be noisy (Friday/Saturday night), so we were prepared. We would suggest taking earplugs if, like us, youarw first floor to the front of the hotel.
Staff were friendly and breakfast was lovely.
Everything! Lovely little hotel in the centre of Chard. Ensuite king-size double bedroom which was immaculate. Excellent breakfast.
Small family run business. The owners are very welcoming and it was a joy to chat with them. They provided us with a lovely relaxed stay.
As a small hotel (6 rooms), it provides a personal touch that you wouldn't get from a larger commercial hotel.
The hotel is set in lovely peaceful grounds that are a pleasure to stroll around. The small team of owner and staff were exceptionally helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A light supper was provided instead of a main meal. Breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. All in all a good experience. We would not hesitate to return.
Paul and Carol are so friendly and attentive. They truly do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable but without being intrusive. Carol’s full English breakfasts are the best we have ever had, and we have travelled extensively in 5* hotels. We will definitely be returning to this little gem.
Amazing facilities and breakfast. And a very welcome cup of tea and pot of coffee on arrival. The spaceous rooms are beautifully decorated. We were travelling with my 95 year old mother-in law and they made her very welcome. Lots of extras that you wouldn’t usually get, even in a 5 Star hotel.
Quiet country setting, with a stream, and an old mill. Picturesque and relaxing. We opened our window to hear the birds chirping in the trees. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast delicious and our room was spacious. The hotel is set up to do receptions and special events.
The room was superb, immaculate and clean, the breakfast was fabulous as was the evening meal, a great choice of classic and Malaysian. The staff were so good and helpful. I rarely recommend a hotel as I’m afraid to disappoint as things change but this has a bit of class.
So many great personal touches, some milk in the fridge for a cuppa, Tea bags, sugar , coffee all in tins couldn't ask for anything more.
Asked about getting in a takeaway and I was delivered a menu.
Beautiful comfortable furniture and a lovely large comfortable bed.
Excellent breakfast, Room was on the top floor very cosy and very clean. The owners were very welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area and things to do around Chard. We cannot fault our stay and I would recommend to anyone as we will go back again soon
The decor is original and each room is named after a flower and decorated accordingly. The dinner menu included Japanese dishes as well as English, and these were beautifully cooked and presented. The breakfast was delicious. We felt very well cared for.
Excellent VFM and the food was excellent. I cannot give enough praise to this small hotel, other than I would stay there again next time I am in the area.
