Good check in and straight to room. Decent size and clean. Breakfast included which was decent. Overall, perfect for what we needed. Would stay again!

This is a truly atmospheric Hotel, and I do not mean, shabby, or uncared-for! It is a real manner, with labyrinthine passages, and gorgeous public rooms, the staff are young, overworked and uniformly excellent the young man who served me my dinner and the ladies at breakfast Deserve special, mention and as the lady on the front desk.
The room I stayed in had been very recently refurbished and was very smart, indeed, fitted out in various shades of grey with a grey slate bathroom. It blended very harmoniously with the rest of the property.
For dinner, I tried a steak, a pedestrian choice, but when that is usually very good at determining as a first glance, the overall quality of the restaurant.
I actually dined in the bar of the fire brigade union! And I had one of the finest ribeyes that I have encountered anywhere in the last 20 years. Yes, really! Cooked exactly as ordered served with all the normal trimmings a 10 ounce ribeye of the first quality for £26.
I really cannot praise this Hotel enough, it has been through some difficult times and has risen up gloriously, the icing on the cake was a first class breakfast with all you can imagine one offer, including a massive choice of fruits and a cooked breakfast choice that would rival hotels at three times the price
And now, to the price, a double room for one person, and the full breakfast described above set me back with my Booking.com, genius benefits, the princely sum of £61. Astonishing.
If you were anywhere near Sheffield, Barnsley and it’s environs deficit This beautiful property, spend a little time in the lovely grounds and reflect that it is still possible to enjoy this level of quality without spending a king ransom.
Congratulations to everyone concerned, I shall return!

Actually we we're there to visit Chapeltown, we were at a wedding in Wisewood and the hotel was quite handy and inexpensive. However, as far as I saw the area is quiet. Reasonably close both to the Peak District and the City centre. However I wouldn't recommend if the main purpose of the visit is to visit the city - it's too far out.

Chapeltown has everything you need for a short stay, and if you don't drive, the train is very central for Barnsley and Sheffield.
Meadow hall shopping centre is just the next junction south on the M1. Lots of shopping and nice restaurants available.
Asda and Sainsburys shops are also local if you need to buy groceries or any essential items.
A real home from home - Mel was a lovely host and her home was very comfortable with more amenities than you often find in a hotel. Breakfast was fabulous with a selection of items to suit all guests - and the lovely treats provided in the bedroom were an added bonus. Location was also perfect for the purposes of my visit to Sheffield. Would not hesitate to recommend a stay at The White House for anyone wishing to visit Sheffield.
Whitley Hall is a delightful period property set in lovely grounds. Plenty of parking spaces. Large, clean rooms with furniture to match the age & style of the building. The hotel has a quaint bar & restaurant, although living locally & having eaten in the restaurant several times in my opinion there is better food & value elsewhere but it’s a nice dining experience in pleasant surroundings.
Cleanliness, comfortable, safe, good value for money paired with a very hospitable and kind hotel owner and cute little cats😽😊i am amazed at how Mel represented this tiny town in Sheffield with a background tour, great hospitality, and generosity 😊
The room and the bathroom were very clean. Mel took care of small tiny things, I felt like in a hotel, even better, tooth paste and brush, hand cream, crackers, water and sparkling water, she left nothing on the list.
The place was clean, well organized and comfortable. Mel was an amazing host which took care of all the tiny details. For a second you feel that you are in a hotel. Highly recommended will defiantly come again.
It’s surroundings are beautiful and the hotel has lots of character; parts of it being built in 16 century. There are peacocks roaming in the grounds. The catering and disco were really good!
Whitley Hall is a unique period hotel. The facilities excellent. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas and it was good to see it so busy for Christmas lunches and wreath making classes.
