Carperby, is an easy village to find and is great point too, for going to other places of interest it is also flat for walking around the village and short walks, also the weatsheaf is also easy for getting around ,the staircases are not steep like some old coaching houses, and can be managed by some elderly ,not to sure about wheelchairs I would check with " Claire or Emerly" ( owners) who you will find most helpfull

This small village is surrounded by stunning natural landscape that is a joy to view. It is a wonderful stopping point for the night when exploring the northern Yorkshire Dales. Be aware that you should be an experienced driver as navigating the sharp turns and narrow bridges may be stressful to those travelers who are uncomfortable driving on the left side of the road.

Caperby itself is relatively small and surrounded by spectacular scenery.
The area is picturesque good for walking and sightseeing with pretty market towns dotted about.
Cafés offer scrumptious cakes, easy lunches and steaming hot drinks.
Dogs are welcome in many pubs.
There are quite a few castles and ruins to visit though some of them are open at weekends only during the winter months.

The wheatsheaf is a good base to explore the dales.many places within walking distance e.g castle Bolton, and Aysgarth falls .with many other places a short half hour car ride.good shoes essential for walks and make sure you can climb the stiles.would recommend a visit to see the red squirrels at snaizeholme.
We stayed at the hotel as a group travelling with our dogs to train on the dales. They accommodated all our requirements in respect of the dogs. All our dogs slept in the car but we had an option to discretely bring them in to our rooms if we needed to. The staff were friendly and happy to help. Food was not "fine dining" but more than acceptable and reasonably priced. Breakfasts were good and they catered for our early starts by opening the dining room 15 mins earlier.
We have already booked for July 2023!
Great Pub & Hotel. Run by Emily & Claire.
Made to feel very welcome on every visit. Staff are great friendly & outgoing. Nothing is ever too much trouble . From the moment you walk through the door to leaving it's a lovely relaxing stay. Rooms are lovely & comfortable with everything you need. Food is lovely as well, very plentiful & reasonably priced. We love visiting the Wheatsheaf. And we can't wait to visit again in January. Keep up the good work we would not stay anywhere else
I booked a single room. As expected, it was compact, but the bed and linens were glorious. The room was spotless and the temperature well regulated. The hotel was filled with local artwork and historical photos of life in the village decades ago. There is a charming guest area with a fire place and room to gather for drinks or conversation. Having a warm, filling breakfast in the morning was a great way to start exploring this beautiful area.
We loved our stay at the Wheatsheaf in
Carperby. The room was modern, exceptionally clean and warm. Our evening meal and breakfast were excellent and there was a lovely atmosphere around the pub. The staff were probably the friendliest I’ve come across in a long time. We’ll definitely be back!
The location was perfect for what we had planned, we’re were able to walk from our hotel straight to aysgarth falls and up to the castle. The food was lovely both in the evening and for breakfast, the staff were very friendly.
Lovely hotel, very comfortable both in the room and in the pub. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Food was amazing with fantastic prices to match. Brilliant location to head out to other parts of the dales.
