The hotel was absolutley filthy.
1. The staff were not the least bothered about the cleanliness of the hotel.
2. The carpets were ripped and stained.
3. The room was full of flies.
4. The room smelt very very stale.

Beautifully appointed, super clean, cozy and comfortable guest house. Jackie and Mike are such excellent hosts and were so welcoming and fun. They prepared an incredible dinner for us, and we were grateful after a long day of driving! Breakfast was equally tasty. We hope to return one day.

The Granary is just stunning - a perfect mix of traditional and modern. It's bright and spacious - and very well appointed. There was nothing we needed that wasn't to hand. So many great extra touches. Definitely the biggest beds we have slept in in Scotland.

Coastal location is absolutely wonderful.
Coastal location is absolutely wonderful. Cullen beach is fantastic. The little fishing ports along the coast of the Moray Firth are delightful. Buckie lacks higher quality restaurants but the Bijou cafe and art shop on the Portessie Beach is first class. Try the Cullen Skink (a fish soup) and the cakes are to die for. Buckie Harbour is building boats which is good news for the town's economy. The distillery trail is worth following if you are into whisky and there are plenty of castles mostly run by the National Trust for Scotland. You might even see dolphins in the Firth, and seals along the coast. The area is lovely.

Lovely seaside town with biggish fishing harbour (quite industrial - not scenic )
Gordon castle is nearby and we were at a concert there in the evening and explored the are the next day. Other little fishing town have more scenic harbours but far fewer shops and other amenities.

Buckie is a very nice small town with plenty to do if you like the outdoors with seal and dolphin watching. Cullen is a nice place to visit not far from Buckie with lots of antique shops, craft shops and one of the best ice cream shops in the area.

We used Buckie as a start and end point for a 4 day canoe/kayak trip down the river Spey from Laggan Bridge to the sea. The Mill House Hotel is a less than 10 minute drive from the Whale & Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay so ideal for a quick shuttle at the end of the trip.
