    Coastal location is absolutely wonderful.

Coastal location is absolutely wonderful. Cullen beach is fantastic. The little fishing ports along the coast of the Moray Firth are delightful. Buckie lacks higher quality restaurants but the Bijou cafe and art shop on the Portessie Beach is first class. Try the Cullen Skink (a fish soup) and the cakes are to die for. Buckie Harbour is building boats which is good news for the town's economy. The distillery trail is worth following if you are into whisky and there are plenty of castles mostly run by the National Trust for Scotland. You might even see dolphins in the Firth, and seals along the coast. The area is lovely.

Lovely seaside town with biggish fishing harbour (quite industrial - not scenic ) Gordon castle is nearby and we were at a concert there in the evening and explored the are the next day. Other little fishing town have more scenic harbours but far fewer shops and other amenities.

Buckie is a very nice small town with plenty to do if you like the outdoors with seal and dolphin watching. Cullen is a nice place to visit not far from Buckie with lots of antique shops, craft shops and one of the best ice cream shops in the area.

We used Buckie as a start and end point for a 4 day canoe/kayak trip down the river Spey from Laggan Bridge to the sea. The Mill House Hotel is a less than 10 minute drive from the Whale & Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay so ideal for a quick shuttle at the end of the trip.

Peaceful surroundings and cosy house, very handy for local Town or further. All facilities and home comforts provided, including a Play station, to the delight of my children. The hosts were very friendly, helpful and made themselves available if needed. An excellent base for a quiet retreat or planning adventures.
