Dornoch Castle Hotel, hotel in Brora

A 500-year-old converted Scottish castle, this hotel is set in the centre of Durnoch, opposite a 13th-century cathedral.

Was booked into a garden view room which I didn’t like so was moved to a beautiful castle room. Great wallpaper and beautiful bed (same as mine at home) good linen and loved the bed. Great night sleep. Restaurant is amazing and good whiskeys in the bar. Buffet breakfast excellent.

Royal Golf Hotel, hotel in Brora

The Royal Golf Hotel is located overlooking the first tee of the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Many rooms have stunning views of the course and the sea.

Breakfast was disappointing - poor buffet selection and the porridge was lumpy and tased like it had been quickly cooked in a Microwave.

    Beautiful sandy beaches. Plenty walks.

Beautiful sandy beaches. Plenty walks. Good hotels and a fantastic golf course. My only gripe! I asked for catch of the day (turbot) and on the menu it said with new potatoes and greens. It looked lovely but underneath the turbot was salmon. I can't stand salmon. Thankfully I'm not allergic but it did ruin our meal. However the rest of the meal was lovely and the staff went over and above. The royal marine is a lovely pet friendly hotel.

    Beautiful sandy beech. Golf course.

Beautiful sandy beech. Golf course. Co-op in centre of village, and large car park. Petrol station in village too. Bakery in village which sold lovely pies. Pub and couple of gift shops. Cafe too. Great location for setting off on day trips on east coast, or west coast, or further down the coast below Brora such as Dunrobin Castle in Golspie, or even to the Black Isle.

    Brora was amazing.

Brora was amazing. The NC500 pods were the most stunning, idyllic pods I’ve ever stayed in. The hot tub, sauna and the views wow amazing. It’s by far the most amazing place I’ve ever stayed in and will definitely be back. The most amazing trip. Definitely book the NC500 pods.

There was no indication that dogs are only allowed in the kitchen and lounge. The price was £710 but charged £740 for pet fee which I thought fair enough. On arrival after unloading, showering, going shops to get food we see a post it note left on the dining table advising dogs only to stay in kitchen or lounge not allowed on furniture. If we had known this before we would not have booked as our dog sleeps upstairs. For 6 nights my dog cried each night. The shower was blocked and water was over flowing

The Roses is a lovely cottage with everything you need - it is like a home from home . It is near the beach and the scenery is beautiful. It is a great place to relax and recharge your batteries. We love visiting the nearby towns of Dornoch, Golspie and Helmsdale . On a previous trip , we saw wild deer in the hills and that was very exciting .

The hotel is very clean. It is newely renovated but they managed to preserve the historical identity of the hotel very well. Great location near the Brora Beach but also suitable for the NC500 with day trips from Brora. We found the hotel to be quite unique in the north side of Scotland. Great service in the Restaurant and Bar with very good food and lot's of choices in the drinks menu. The staff was very professional but also nice and helpful.

The house is situated well for visiting different places and handy for Brora’s beautiful beach..We loved the garden room which was bright and very comfortable . It was great to have deckchairs to sit out the back garden in the lovely weather. Mairi , the owner ,was only a text/ call away which was very handy when we left to come home and forgot our keys . We would definitely love to to go back .

The location is amazing. Only 5 mins from the beach. The cottage is isolated so you get a private stay and lovely views to the ocean. Has fibre internet and the speed is really good. Brora town is only 5 mins drive and you are 5-10 mins from some of the main tourist attractions including Dunrobin castle. Colin and his family have been excellent specially in terms of communication.
