The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centers. Well-known for its M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it's also a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.
Most city center hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping center, and behind that is Digbeth Bus Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.
The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Center) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.
Just across the street is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modeled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.
The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top soccer clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

The taxi drivers are super-helpful but it's quite an easy city to walk around. The canal trip with Bingley's Cruises was marvellous, the Roundhouse is a delight, especially the Claire Cotterill collages, EVERYBODY is just startlingly friendly, the pub food was a treat (rocket salad with chicken! unheard of elsewhere), the Jewellery Quarter is bling heaven but I would have loved at least 1 of the museums to be open. Even New Street Station was a bit of a wonderland. I loved Birmingham.

Area around Bullring is very busy, lots of shops and vibrancy. Great for gigs. Found it quite easy to get lost as there is not much signage. I would not recommend driving into the centre as the roads are closed everywhere and parking is limited and expensive unless you pre-book and mostly using multi stories which I tend to avoid. Very disappointed that Art Museum and Gallery were still closed as we had planned a visit there after it being closed last time.

I did a canal tour which was lovely.
I did a canal tour which was lovely. I had booked a walking tour but it was cancelled so I did the route myself. Some really interesting architecture both old and modern.
The cathedral was interesting and I ate at The Ivy beside it, which was convenient for my hotel. The food and service at The Ivy were very good
Lots of shopping to be done

The house was ok but it needs improvements. 1.
The house was ok but it needs improvements. 1. The bathroom was very teeny-tiny and full of mold. It was about 4 feet wide and 8 feet long with standup shower, a commode and very small sink. It was very uncomfortable. 2. The soap dispenser was leaking and I have to cover it with plastic bag other wise the the liquid soap will fall on the floor of the stand up shower. 3. There is no heating radiator on the ground floor so it will be very uncomfortable to stay in the kitchen or the lobby in winter or even in summer when sometime weather is cold. 4. The cupboard in my room was not secured to the wall and it almost tip over me. It could a big law suite if this cupboard falls on a toddler. 5. The carpet in the room#2 was old and and smelly. 6. There is no toilet on the ground floor. 7. The house is on a very busy street so you must need to pay close attention when you cross the road. 8. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was not working. The owner said he will fix it after I vacate the house. 9. I stayed for 12 nights and no one came to clean the house, the kitchen or the toilets. 10. I will never book this property again. 11. This is my very honest review. 12. The owner of the property got mad on me and yelled on me via whatsApp when he saw my reviews and he advised me not book his house again. I have no intention of staying there again and I will recommend you do the same. The owner is very unprofessional and he can not handle honest reviews specially if they are negative and and do not promote/support his business. The only thing in his mind is money not guest comfort. 13. There was some kind of maintenance project (leaky plumbing/dry wall installation) going on the ground floor. The owner should have completed the project before the guests arrive. But the money is all he was concerned about. Besides that everything was ok. Haha.

My home town is just the best, I come after 11 years with my family and I honestly enjoyed it a lot I just wish I had to come for other circumstances. I didn’t enjoy fully as I was in Birmingham for the passing of my grandad.

We had 2 nights in Birmingham, was not long enough.
We had 2 nights in Birmingham, was not long enough. We shopped, walked, went to Aquarium, Cadbury Factory at Bournville. All was great, people were friendly and helpful.
We ate out one night at an Italian restaurant, other night we had takeaway.
Bed was very comfortable. Given the position of the hotel near large roads it was incredibly sound proof. Unlike other hotels I have stayed in, the heating was just right. The food in the restaurant the night I arrived was very good value for money. I had dahl which came with onion baji, basmati rice, naan and was cheaper to what I would pay at the pub and very good comfort food. Good value for money and I could walk to Villa Park. I only came to Birmingham to see a Villa game having been travelling through the UK.
The Grand Hotel is the best in Birmingham. In the middle of all the weekend city centre liveliness with excellent shopping and restaurants in every direction.
The suite (first visit) is beautiful, large and with a gigantic bathroom. The large king (second stay) was just as good as the the suite but with a smaller bathroom and lower ceiling, still of the highest quality.
The onsite restaurant is a 9/10 and the breakfast was excellent.
I stay at The Grand because they welcome my dog as much as they welcome me.
The Hyatt is a gorgeous hotel in a great location to the ICC! I had such a great nights sleep! By far the best beds in any hotel I’ve ever stayed in and while not cheap, this hotel is THE place to stay for anyone off to the ICC. The Spa is also excellent with amazing and by far the best massage I’ve ever had so full credit to Sophia and the team at Amala! I also had a complimentary drink without even asking at the downstairs pub for my food being slightly late and I didn’t even have to ask what amazing service!
Excellent hotel in a great location. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. There was a good choice at breakfast and the meals in the bar were good. Free parking and wi-fi really topped the stay off. I would definitely stay there again if I was up in Birmingham as it was easy to get into the city centre and out of town for sightseeing.
The Park Regis is a very nice hotel in a good location for Birmingham city centre. The decor is plush and up-to-date and the rooms are a good size with large beds. The staff on reception were very nice and checked us in relatively quickly and gave us rooms next to each other. All in all that is what I expect from a hotel of this calibre.
Hearty breakfast in a quiet and garden view setting, free and secure parking, clean beds, a Tesco store across the street, and of course the very reasonable price. We were just passing thru Birmingham on a road trip to the Lake District and the hotel more than meets the requirements of an overnight stay.
was a reunion as such with friends made whilst we all worked in Sheffield, the hotel was part of the pub we were meeting in, so ideal for us who stayed overnight. Birmingham City Centre appears to be thriving and the Briar Rose hotel and Pub are part of the scene. thoroughly enjoyed it.
The hotel is well-positioned, not far from the city centre.
We got a very nice, clean and spacious room, with a nice view over Birmingham and with a good size bathroom.
The Hotel and SPA staff was nice and friendly. The SPA treatment was also really good.
The property was well kept clean and tidy. It was ideal for our over night stay and a lot cheaper the paying for individual hotel rooms. It’s only a 15 minute walk to the city centre and easy to find I would stay there again when next visiting Birmingham.
The riverside walk is lovely and a great shortcut to the city centre. We left the car at the hotel and went for food and drinks. The taxi back was about £6. Perfect for a short stay in Birmingham.
The coffee bar is lovely, modern design and great staff.
I was in Birmingham for a conference at the ICC. This hotel was excellently located for this and for the rest of the city centre, including the Christmas market. It was very comfortable and had all the facilities you would expect for a business hotel.
The hotel is an IBIS in a Motel style, it provides exactly what it aims to provide, relatively low frills, but clean, comfortable and functional at a good price not far from Birmingham City Centre.
Ons of the best place to stay in Birmingham.
Better than any 5 star hotel
Nice , tidy , clean and absolute the best
Host was really nice and helpful
Cant expect anything better from booking.com
Hotel room was excellent. Very spacious, and airy. We loved the panoramic views of the city. Gigantic bed and very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty. We would definitely choose to stay again.
Extremely comfortable, very friendly staff, excellent location & easy access to Birmingham city centre, free car parking on-site, & excellent value for money.
