Visiting the abbey and the guide was both informative and amusing. Good town with parking and shops and eateries. Easy to get to the coastal areas. We liked Bexhill on sea. We would highly recommend The Black Horse for lunches and dinner with excellent service. About a five minute drive from the town

Historic and interesting town of Battle, 1066 - 1115!
Historic and interesting town of Battle, 1066 - 1115! Don’t miss St Mary’s Church close to the Abbey on the main High Street, worth an visit! Abundance of tourist, okay that’s expected in mid August. Great for walkers and dogs, most places very welcoming with dogs including bowls of water and sometimes dig biscuits!
Interesting High Street with a variety of shops and restaurants. Parking at the Abbey was £4.00 for the day which is a plus.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings , swimming pool, it is not heated . Not a problem I really enjoyed swimming in it. You would not be able to walk into the town of Battle , it would be too far. We found the dinner menu far to expensive for us. So we drove to Battle and had fish and chips. The following evening we went into Bexhill.
Battle is beautiful but there is not a lot to do there.

Everyone was so friendly.
Everyone was so friendly. Good choice I’d restaurants would recommend The Sweet Olive and Trinity. Both in the high street, excellent food and service. Even the staff in Battle Abbey went out of their way to chat and give us information.

Battle is a very quaint town steeped in history. We had a lovely, calm and peaceful stay. Close to Hastings and Wylands farm which has a great farm shop with amazing bacon, chicken and cakes at good prices.
Will definitely be back.

Lovely town and Abbey very close to Hotel.
Lovely town and Abbey very close to Hotel. Historical interest of 2066 Battke of Hastings William the Conqueror etc.
Great Central location to visit other towns. We went to Rye, visited Ypres Tower, lovely shops, eateries.
All in all a fantastic stay and short break
Breakfast was OK but not quite the standard one would expect. The grounds were exceptional and the hotel so well appointed with decor and atmosphere of a large Manor house. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were very disappointed that the pool was not in use, especially as that was the only reason we selected yhat particular hotel. We would certainly return there at some time in the future but would check about the pool first!
If you are in the area to visit Battle Abbey/ the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings, this hotel could not be more convenient. It is right across the street from the front entrance of the site. There are a variety of shops and restaurants within a quarter-mile of the hotel. The hotel sits atop a cute pub, where the included breakfast is served. There are a good variety of breakfast options, including vegan/vegetarian options.
Fantastic property in a beautiful location. Ideally situated to explore the local area and easily accessible to the historic town of Battle.
The hosts were really welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The property is extremely well equipped to a really high standard.
A bonus is having a hot tub on site to relax in the evening, chilling out.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the area.
A very friendly team with an exceptional room. Me and my husband stayed here the night before our church wedding blessing ceremony. The team were so helpful and understanding by storing our bags before we checked in and letting us get ready in the morning. The room and it's amenities were fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to any couple as it's a beautiful building with a lovely atmosphere in the heart of battle.
Amazing hotel, cosy and warm. Absolutely loved it. Bed was super comfy, breakfast was amazing. Staff friendly. And we could take our dog which is always the best bonus.
Beautiful grounds with lovely walks. And we got to meet George and Charles the 2 peacocks!
We stayed in room 21, and we will definitely be back and request the same room. Great size
Great location; very helpful sraff; good nreakfast, main room spacious; had an excellent evening meal;
We were able to extend, but had to move to smaller room, but staff mpved loggage and were always friendly and very helpful/ We would definitely recommend The Abbey Hotel to other people, and we would definitley book there again if heading that way
Location was great. We were attending a wedding at a popular venue in Battle, Amelia Cottage was a 10 min walk away, so very convenient. A better option of a house rather than staying in a hotel as we had a 9 year old child with us. Beds were comfy. On site parking also good. The owner was very approachable and it was nice to meet him on arriving.
Very professional family-run 11-room hotel. Easy access off A21, ample parking. Spacious grounds, outdoor bar/restaurant in addition to indoor area. Dinner menu not over-elaborate and food was well done, good wine list. Superior room has excellent views over countryside. Very powerful shower pressure. Staff really keen to help.
Stunning hotel, exceptional customer service, central to visit all inland and coastal areas, best breakfast and dining, beautiful grounds with ponds and wildlife, very comfortable bed, peaceful and probably the best hotel we have stayed at....100% we will be back. Thank you for a perfect 5 day stay.
The room was up top of hotel lot stairs no lift so no good for disabled . room was clean but under bed. Need hoover and no plug in sink we did have bath shower very hot water nice . no breakfast. Or dinner you have to go out eat . yes kettle tea in room.and hair dyer.
It was a really unique place to stay and the horse ox was really well converted and beautifully decorated. It was quiet and felt like it was far into the countryside, but actually it was just a few minutes drive to Battle and Hastings.
The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful, even offering to arrange a taxi to my destination during the day. The pub/inn itself is just walking distance from the 1066 Battle Abbey and Battle Station.
Location excellent for exploring Hastings and Battle. Clean, cosy and warm. Great shower. Little fridge, toaster, kettle, plug in single hob and microwave. Fire pit perfect for marshmallow toasting. Bed comfortable.
Helpful staff, inspired menu, historical building comes with its own charm (and reduced height doorways so "mind your head"), great location for a walk through the battleground & Abbey.
Central position for everything Battle offers. Great outlook on to the Abbey. Well equipped. Everything like new. Very attractive bedroom. Great shower. Fastidiously clean
