It is a fabulous hotel, very modern yet still casual. Loved the self check-in system, but there was always staff available to help. Staff was very friendly, it's a good location and plenty of parking places. The rooms and bathrooms were very comfortable and modern.

Arlan House, Central Basingstoke Hotel, hotel in Basingstoke

Arlan House, Central Basingstoke Hotel, a property with a garden, is located in Basingstoke, 22 km from Jane Austen's House Museum, 23 km from Highclere Castle, as well as 29 km from Newbury...

The check in process was hands off, with a code that needed to be keyed into the door. This was a great relief as I was not sure what time I was getting back and so did not want to have a curfew or have someone waiting for me. The room was also clean and a good size, and had everything I might need (shower, desk, coffee). I felt fully in control of my stay!

Accessibility of the location from the train station and to my event venue in Basingstoke. Location of site is along the main road with bus facility. The heating needs to be regulated by the owner b4 guests come in so that there's no issue feeling cold, especially as we are getting into winter. A warmer duvet is required in order to keep warm through the night. I suggest that every guest is required at least an unopened 50mls of bottled milk in fridge for tea/coffee and not half that looks like it has perviously been opened and used. Overall, Wessex House is purely a place to be, as it has no odour and no smoking is allowed. I ate at my event, brought some food that I enjoyed Wessex House Microwave Facility. That was amazing.

I travelled in by train and the station is right opposite the big shopping centre, lots of shops inside and places to eat and drink. More shops outside too, again with lots of choices for places to eat and drink. Big cinema on site and a flip out too (trampoline park). If you fancy a coffee, there is a small coffee shop inside the Apricot clothing shop on the lower floor. Very reasonably priced and staff serving were lovely too. Had a lovely few days in Basingstoke. :-)

The room was quiet, comfortable and had everything needed. There were good facilities at the hotel - dining room, seating area, bar, good parking and was easily accessible. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated within easy reach of the M3 and also Basingstoke. And I feel it was reasonably priced

Small town that has a really good shopping centre with a wide choice of the normal and more unusual shops. There are plenty of places to eat, cinema complex, theatre and a good selection of places to park.

A great mixture of old and new: new shopping mall cleverly melded into "old town". Very well looked after and litter-free. Lots of indoor activities especially for children and young families. Excellent range of properties for folk wanting to settle there (with good access to London). Lots of road works but probably a passing phase.

We didn’t really explore locally, but rather used it as a base to explore the whole area. It’s just a touch over an hours drive to the south coast, to Bath and to London. We visited Estates with some of the best art collections outside of London, the National Auto Museum, Wisley Garden, rode bikes in the New Forest, played disc golf, visited the Safari Park and much more. There’s a good pub 10 minutes walk away and a huge grocery store about 10 minutes drive away. Perfect!

My 6-year old son and I spent a birthay special night in the hotel an enoyed the tranquility of the location and the walk next morning along the river to Old Basing. The grand walk-in shower was also a highlight. Most of the inclued breakfast was not for me (can't have English breakfasts or sugered yogurts) but there was a tasty glutenfree scrambled egg on toast. My son was less happy with the strawberry yogurt, but ate it anyway.
