Plenty of hot water for hill walkers returning home. Warm and cozy with great views and eagles. Spacious, comfortable rooms. This cottage is 11 miles up a windy, single track road. It was brilliantly located for the hills we wanted to do and the glorious walking around Hushinish, but it does take time to get to the A road and more distant sites of interest.

Beautiful views over the sea! The cottage has everything you could possibly want. We were also pleasantly surprised by the great welcome basket waiting for us, thank you Caroline! There were even binoculars for spotting wildlife. Supermarket close by, although we did most shopping in Stornoway. We had a great time!
After we left I found out I forgot something very special to me and Caroline arranged to send it back to me without delay: again many thanks here!

The accommodation was exceptionally comfortable and furnished to an excellent standard and exceeded my expectations. The views from the Fisherman's Hut across the Loch were stunning. I have to say that never before have I had such a peaceful and restful vacation as I had at the Fisherman's Hut.

Overjoyed with my travel experience. Simply wow. It was perfect. Marvellous views, friendly hosts. Surrounded by nature and its vibe. Easy to access local amenities, if required. Peace and quiet. Ideal for a weekend getaway, honeymoon, holiday, family gettogether.
A traditional castle in a wonderful Lochside location.
A traditional castle in a wonderful Lochside location.
Tastefully decorated with some exceptional art.
Interaction with other guests in encouraged and indeed essential over communal breakfast and dinner. Both high quality.
Rooms and bathrooms inevitably vary in size but I saw 3 and they were all very comfortable.
Access is down a very long narrow road. It has passing places but it is remote and some may not want this. We all thought it was wonderful.

The shower in our room provided hot water for only 3 minutes...
The shower in our room provided hot water for only 3 minutes which didn’t allow both my fiancé and I to have hot showers. We reported this to the staff on the evening of our stay. She said she’d look into it.
The same issue happened the next day. On departure we reported this to the estate manager (Mr Morrison). He denied any issue stating he would know about it if there was a problem. Despite having reported this to his staff the previous day he offered no apology, and went further to insinuate we were making the problem up. We added that the only other guests in the castle had reported similar problems over breakfast. Again this fell on deaf ears. A very odd attitude to customer service.
Paying over £370 for a one-night stay, hot water is expected. An accusation of lying from Management is not. This soured an otherwise pleasant stay.
Despite 9 of the 12 rooms in the castle being empty, we were charged for an upgrade from a twin to a double room. We didn’t mind paying for the upgrade, however the attitude of Mr Morrison was probably the worst experience I have witnessed in hospitality.
The castle has so much potential and I can’t understand why it was almost empty on a bank holiday weekend. Maybe the management’s approach to marketing is the same as their customer service - woeful.
