Reception was eventually fine but there was noone present when we arrived. The hotel was tired and our potentially pleasant room needed redecoration.

Best Western Plus Burlington Hotel, hotel in Alkham

Set in leafy gardens, overlooking the Leas Promenade and English Channel, the Burlington Hotel is just a 10-minute walk from Folkestone's town center, the beach, and a 15-minute walk from Folkestone...

Awful experience- offered an upgrade for£20, which I didn’t take. When I got to my room it was freezing. The radiator was off. I turned it on after 15 mins the radiator had not warmed up/ I called reception who informed me they would come and check it out. After 1 5 mins I called back down as no one arrived. I was getting frustrated at this point as I needed to work. Someone came 5 mins later. He said the boiler was not working and offered me a space heater. He told me no other rooms were available. Considering I was offered an upgrade I found this hard to believe. I refused to stay in a cold room with a space heater. I checked out immediately and changed hotels. I was offered no apology on site and just offered a ‘ yes I would be annoyed too’. Left annoyed frustrated and cold. Would not recommend and would not be going back.

Alkham is a quiet little village with only the pub, church and park. Perfect to get away when you need A break. The food is to die for! The drinks options are amazing and the staff now how to look after you. Dover and Folkestone are between 10-15 minutes away and easy access to everything. Hidden Jem!

A very pretty Church - a very busy main road with very fast traffic & it was late in the day so we didn’t venture very far! A few walks were visible from the road but walking bouts required on the day of our visit.

The staff very friendly , nice atmosphere in the pub, warm and cosy , nice open fires . Would have preferred home made fries with our meal rather than frozen as the rest of the meal was a very good standard . Toast in the morning ok but again packet bread rather than fresh un cut loaf, let it down for the standard of the pub .
