This is a gorgeous village pub in what is clearly a very old building, full of charm and character. The staff were so, so lovely; nothing was too much trouble (not that we needed to call on them much). The room was quiet, a lovely temperature, bright, and airy. The bed was perfectly comfortable - maybe not as firm as I might like (and everyone's preference varies, of course), but hardly saggy. The food is standard pub grub, largely, but it is very good standard pub grub. The restaurant area is nicely shielded from the noise of the pub, which is welcome if you want to have a quieter conversation.

The cottage looks and feels like a little piece of history. It was easy to find and John was very responsive and flexible to my travel plans. The proximity to stores and the historic downtown area makes it the perfect place to stay and enjoy Marlborough and the surrounding sites. Would definitely stay again!

This was our second visit to Aldbourne.
This was our second visit to Aldbourne. The first to visit o good friend resident in the nursing home. The second for her funeral in St Micheals Church. It was not for a holiday. The people we met were very friendly and a very nice couple looked after our dog so we could attend the funeral. It is a very pretty village with many amenities.

Doctor Who fan pilgrimage.
Doctor Who fan pilgrimage. Locations from 1971's The Daemons. Brilliant! Nice mile and a half walk up to the Devil's Hump (burial mounds). Two decent pubs in the village that serve reasonable grub so you can while away a chilled evening here.
Hi - just a quick message to say how much I enjoyed a four night stay at The Crown last week while visiting the picturesque village of Aldbourne. All of the staff, without exception, were friendly, helpful and attentive. I was also impressed by the quality of the food, so much so that I dined there on all four evenings. I wholeheartedly recommend The Crown as THE place to stay on a visit to Aldbourne. 10/10 "
A lovely old traditional pub set in the heart of picturesque Aldbourne. Our room was clean & comfortable, the food excellent - overall a very pleasant stay. Aan & his staff were perfect hosts, would definitely stay again!
