Great location, charming chateau from the outside. The staff was very helpful, waited for us even though we arrived after the check-in window and kept the restaurant open for us to have dinner.

Fantastic 5 star hotel chateau in extensive grounds on edge of Burgundy region. This was our third stay over a 20+ year period to this lovely venue. It has rural peace and historical charm coupled with attentive staff and an outstanding Michelin starred restaurant, set off by a brand new dining room and kitchen. It is is not a cheap place to stay, but if you ate after excellence and fine food and wine, then this will be for you. As an added bonus, you can befriend the various resident creatures such as the geese, ducks, white peacocks and the very friendly labradoodle "Omega". We ate every night in the restaurant guided in our choices of food and wine by the excellent Maitre D and chatted with the award winning chef. about his wonderful cuisine. Desserts by Karina are also a delight... the mango souffle an absolute triumph among a spectacular set of offerings..
We intend to return in 2025, giving France a bit of a wide berth in the 2024 Olympic year.
Vézelay is a crazy place. It is hyped up in every tourist guide on the Bourgogne you can find, but it is actually a one street village on the top of a mountain whose only attraction is an oversized cathedral on the Way of St. James, and some tourist shops for decorative arts (if you like that). Rural exodus is unmistakable, there are several buildings for sale, and the ladies who run the hotel where we stayed told us that the village has only 70 regular inhabitants left, the rest are pilgrims and tourists. We only stayed for one night, passing through on our way back home, and for us it was perfect as it was. The hotel (Les Glycines) was great, very recommendable, the surrounding landscape is beautiful and possibly nice to explore wandering (we didn't try). Vézelay also seems to be a hot spot for pilgrims who find company there.

An amazing Romanesque basilica with a Main Street that climbs steeply (please note) up towards the facade. Loads of art shops and bars without being over the top. It’s close to the great Chablis wine regions.

A beautifully restored town with tons of history and local crafts, foods, art, etc. A close association with music, there was a music festival over 4 days with the main performers within and behind the Cathedral. We wished we had stayed another day!

The village and the famous medieval basilica are part of a world heritage listed pilgrimage network on the increasingly popular journey to Santiago in northwest Spain.
The Basilica is one of the most beautiful medieval churches in France and has been a favourite of mine since studying medieval architectural history at university in the late 1960s. This was my fourth visit and it only get better as conservation and revitalisation programmes for the church and the village roll out over time.

I stayed in Vézelay as a stopping point on a drive down to the Auvergne. Nice place to stop for a night. Places to eat and have a drink and a beautiful little town with a very impressive basilica. However - it is very small - so I wouldn't want to stay there for much more than a day unless you have a specific event or festival.

We visited Vezelay because we read somewhere on the internet that it was once declared 'the most authentic French village in France'. Well it was pitoresque and yes it was worth a visit. But that was it. It is a daytrip spend there a couple of hours. Have a picnic in the gardens behind the Cathedral, beautiful views. Not a place to stay. If you do spend the night there have dinner (or lunch) at the 'la Fortune du Pot restaurant'. It has delicious and affordable, French cuisine.
The building of the hotel is beautiful and located very convenient for Vezelay and for the visiting Chablis, Avalon and beautiful Noyers. Our room was decent size and with very good sized spotless clean and newly renovated bathroom. Hotel haven’t parking but have attached village cheap public parking. Stuff members were nice and attentive. View to the hills from our room was very relaxing and picturesque.
this is a very nice place! owners and staff are extremely nice! you really feel at home here!’nice terrasse in front, great garden with amazing views at back! you feel sorry to leave Vezelay when you stay here! The lady who works most days in terrasse in front of building is amazing! she is so friendly and energetic! you will really feel home here while part of the local community!! Great place!
Superb old fashioned touring hotel with fully modernized spotlessly clean accommodations. easy access by car, plenty of parking adjacent, elevator, easy walk to Basilica, great views of surrounding countryside, excellent restaurant in the hotel offering highly refined contemporary culinary art with an exciting wine list. Bathroom big enough for a square dance.
This is a beautiful hotel! It's a little confusing to get to it, but the gal at the front desk was extremely helpful when we called. The location is perfect - just steps away from the Cathédral. Our room was outstanding! Beautifully decorated, spacious, quiet. The bathroom was also spacious and nice. The breakfast buffet was wonderful.
Location, perfect the square and Abbey outside the hotel door. We had a front room so our view was exceptional. Food was good, I had a salad on the last night and as I have a fish allergy I had no dressing. Little bit disappointing just having lettuce and chicken, with no dressing.
Very delightful and simple 2 star hotel. Welcoming staff and great location just at the bottom of the Main Street. Friendly bar and sunny terrace. Rooms were small but perfectly formed. Comfy beds and our room 22 had small balcony with lovely countryside views.
We had a memorable stay: the hotel is stylish and extremely clean. Staff so kind and caring. Restaurant gastronomique à la hauteur. Superbe literie. Très bon rapport qualité-prix.
Very nice staff who welcomed us. The hotel is beautiful very old and full of character. It has a beautiful terrace where you can have breakfast under the canopy of flowers.
Excellent location and mix of amenities to enjoy as a staging point for a week in Vezelay and surrounding area. We enjoyed the vibe of the place, a mix of old and new.
