Booked this as a stop over before catching the ferry home as close to Calais whilst still being rural. Located in a pretty village which had a market on the evening we were there.
As to the hotel itself. Very friendly and helpful staff (even helping us with our flat battery in the morning). We would certainly recommend eating there in the evening!
Boasting a garden and views of lake, Au Retour du Lac is a bed and breakfast set in a historic building in Ardres, 16 km from Calais Railway Station.

Perfect location for a stop over either coming or going from Le Shuttle. Wonderful breakfast as usual, this was our fourth visit. Parking outside the room and Ardres just a short walk away. Host was as welcoming as ever.

Perfect for what we needed and in a really good location, close enough for a short drive to eurotunnel but far enough away to feel remote.
Had absolutely everything we needed and much more. It was all really appreciated.

Location was excellent and the house was amazing. Excellent and prompt communication with host. really soft towels and mats in the bathroom - it felt luxurious
A quaint village with a nice market square. The countryside around is ideal walking territory. The Ball leisure park just outside the village makes a good stop for children. We did not use it ourselves tooo old.
It's setting just a short drive to the Ferries of Calais make it an ideal stop over spot. Enjoy!!!

Out of season so I was so was the only diner but still the very attentive staff provided meals at a time to suit me within their schedule. Room was a very good standard. shower excellent. Easy Parking right outside the hotel. Great breakfast. Great place for a stop before or after a channel crossing. In season, I imagine this is a busy place with a caravan site and fun park opposite.

Great location for travellers using Eurotunnel as far enough into France to avoid built up areas (Calais/Dunkirk).
Rural location and short walking distance to small local bar.
Stayed at this hotel many times before and intend to do so in future - our first choice of hotel when beginning or ending a french road trip.

No restaurants in town, however very good restaurant as you drive in the direction of Calais, drive a few kilometres in the direction of Calais and you will see a restaurant on right hand side of road, very good, good price around €60 for two people dining. Tournhem has no real redeeming features in my view, but convenient as a stop over from Calais.
The hotel is well located for the ferry at Calais. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating and on site restaurant is a further convenience.
