It is a small hotel with friendly staff and very good food. Its quite dated but comfortable although queen or king beds would be much better than doubles.

It was a very pretty village/ Town in the mountains. Suitable for walkers with lovely cafe's and restaurants and useful supply base before starting the camino. Local people were very friendly and quirky as well. It is full of character and history.

SJPDP is the traditional starting point for el Camino de Santiago's French route. You can feel all the positive energy and excitement from the Peregrinos at portas of their journey.
Although the first stage from SJPDP, crossing the Pyrenees to Spain, is challenging the journey and the satisfaction of completing it is multiple times more rewarding and will remain as a memorable experience!

There is surely more to do and see in Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port than we had time for. The Hotel Ramuntcho was perfect in every way. We were in town only for one night before beginning the Camino, and we would have been delighted to stay longer had time allowed.

We went to St Jean because it is the starting point of the French Camino. It is a charming place, lots of good places to stay and eat - though the prices in a cafe we stopped at are a lot higher than in nearby Spain! 5 Euros for a glass of wine compared with 1.5 Euros in Spain!

Well, we ate one of the restaurants where we could sit outside. Unfortunately I’ve forgotten the name of the restaurant. The food was good. The restaurant was quite busy. I gave the cashier €50 and was short changed €20. 🤨

Beautiful town at the start of the Camino frances.
Beautiful town at the start of the Camino frances. Not good for dairy and gluten allergy though and not every restaurant and bar proprietor is friendly. Hardly anything provided in any language other than french. Looking forward to crossing into Spain.

The host made a wonderful breakfast with a croissant, nice baguette bread and on the second day she even had homemade yoghurt.
The room had everything I needed including a hairdryer and a warm blanket and was super quiet. I also especially liked that if I closed the outside shudder it was completely dark in the room something I often miss in hotels.
The bed & breakfast is a little outside of the town, 1o min approx. I liked that and had no trouble going back and forth. I enjoyed that it was so quiet.
Fantastic introduction to the Camino Frances. Beautiful 17th Century house overlooking the valley. The owner and team gave everyone a wonderful home cooked 3-course dinner for 10Eu on the terrace. They explained the next day walk to Roncesvalle via Orison & what to expect. Also they talked about the positive personal & spiritual benefits the experience can be for pilgrims. After breakfast we had an amazing ‘circle’ in the lobby to wish everyone well before setting off
First of all, I would like to point out that this is a shared room with other people, and the shower and toilet are outside the room as described when booking the place, referring to this type of accommodation, the owners of the place are charming, answer and help every question, the place is pleasant and clean in an excellent location. There is a nice sitting area and you can prepare a hot drink. A very inviting place. We enjoyed it very much.
great little hotel, right in the old town and really nice decor. loved the provided breakfast in the communal kitchen and the view of the Pyrenees from the terrace
Marc gave us fantastic recommendations of places to go before and after our stay

Excellent welcome by Eric, much more than expected. It had everything I was looking for in an albergue. You really can't beat the value. Highly recommend.
