We love St Germain-en-Laye with its history, chateau, market place, good shops and restaurants. The beautiful park with its views across to Paris and its flowery gardens which are beautiful in the Spring through Autumn. It is easy to stroll around and admire the buildings. The Musee Maurice Denis, in a former priory, is a short walk from the town centre and well worth a visit. We had dinner at Chez Lulu in Rue St Pierre and enjoyed a really good meal in a very pleasant ambiance. The service was attentive. Coffee is very expensive in the town! We hope to return.

Saint-Germaint-en-Laye is great town to visit for a day or two. As well as the upmarket feel of numerous clothes shops, high quality patisseries and chocolatiers, the highlight is the Le Notre Terrace next to the chateau, with magnificent views of Paris in the distance. Worth going on a market day in the centre. The RER station is next to the Chateau and a 4 minute walk to the Centre.

It is a beautiful little town with a grand chateau featuring a semi-formal garden for a stroll and distant views of the Paris skyline. Delightful shops. Fast trains to Paris and a wonderful market on Friday mornings (and Tuesdays too I think?).

I loved in the Marais in Paris for 15 years and never once visited this beautiful city. After eight years in London I’m returning to France and couldn’t be more pleased to discover Saint Germain en Laye.

The place is steeped in history however,I think you should seriously review the hotel that I stayed in pavilion Henry1V it is not up to standard, and should be avoided at all cost until they sort themselves out. It is trading on past reputation trying to renovate and asking for top prices asking €390 inclusive of breakfast for my room was ridiculous there are better hotels in the area one of which I stayed in which was superb in the forest and that was €180. The only thing going for this hotel is its view and it is trading on past glory to be fair I should demand a refund maybe you will be able to tell me how I do that

Spacious and comfortable apartment, quite and and big enough...

Spacious and comfortable apartment, quite and and big enough for us, we were in four. Close to a little market in a residential area. The apartment would have a great potential in case managed in a proper way. The checkin was horrible. The apartment it supposed to be ready for checkin starting from 3 PM, we got there as 6 PM, as we agreed with the owner/manager, but unfortunately nobody was there waiting on us, we called the owner several times and on his different phone numbers and, as soon as he finally picked up, he reassured us saying someone is on its way and will be there in 10 minutes. After one hour and an half awaiting, at 7:30 PM, a person sent from the owner, showed up to open us the door. As soon as we got in was easily noticeable that the cleaning wasn't made after the previous guest. So we awaited an another 2 hours, inside the apartment sitting on the sofa to have the apartment kind of clean and ready around 9 PM. The WiFi wasn't working so we told the person who came for the checkin to take care of it on the next day. On the next day, after a day of work, because we were in the area for work reason, nobody took care of the Wifi, we called the owner and he promised us, again, to fix it on the next day, same thing and same, broken, promises on the 3rd day as well. So, after the third day, we renounced to call the owner again and we basically had to renounce to have a WiFi connection, and we staid the rest of the stay, which was 5 days more, without it.

Beautiful grounds and decor, exceptional service and friendly staff, amazing food variety and quality, good choice of activities and sports, comfortable rooms. Every detail was well thought-out and executed in a way that I've rarely experienced even at the nicest hotels. We didn't bring our baby, but noticed all the amenities for children and family like plates for children, activities, high chairs etc. which made it look like a great stay for families. Can't wait to go back.

Based on the price, I was very nervous about the quality of the room…i was blown away. First the staff was amazing. I had issues with my knee and they took my bags upstairs and wouldn’t accept a tip…so very helpful. The facility was clean, updated and beyond comfortable…much better than the room I had in Paris the week before that was 10x’s more. While there are not a lot of choices in SGaL, don’t worry as this hotel has it all.

The location is very good, with a supermarket and grocery stores nearby. Located in the city centre we also found restaurants and bars within walking distance. The apartment is small, but cozy, the bed was comfortable and it has everything needed for cooking breakfast. Perfect for a couple.

Convenient location to centre ville with a beautiful view of the Seine and Paris. A hearty breakfast of cheeses, charcuteries, and eggs/bacon or sausage, and of course, wonderful pastries. Given the choice, this is the only place to stay in St Germain en Laye.
