We were in appartment 11, occupying the entire roofspace. Three bedrooms, a spacious lounge / kitchen area well equipped for cooking and socialising. The host Juvenal Viellard was very personable and helped us with a local restaurant booking.

A remarkable town with a fascinating history, spectacular ramparts and a citadel that isvery interesting to visit. There are numerous walks in and around the town, ranging from 4km around the ramparts to 23km around the surrounding coutryside and the Charne valley. There are some excellent restaurants and bars, such as Darnetal. The whole place has a sleepy authentic feel to it. A great place for a weekend break.

The restaurant was very enjoyable with an imaginative set menu and an accompanying wine flight. The restaurant staff were both knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Our Club room was OK but not great value for money. A week previously we had spent four nights in Dublin where, for the same price, we had a far superior room. However our biggest gripe was being charged 10 Euro for two tea bags, not two cups of tea, but just two tea bags. Despite questioning the charge the receptionist was adamant. It is a shame that such a meanness of spirit should mar what would otherwise been a very pleasant stay.

We love Montreuil-sur-Mer, and have been visiting it for some 30 years now. It's a lovely historic town, surrounded by ramparts with gorgeous views and walks all around, within a very compact distance.
It is full of history and Victor Hugo based Les Mis on it with a big Son et Lumiere in the Citadel in the summer, with most of the town taking part
It has many excellent restaurants and bars, and atmospheric walks. Great market on Saturdays with all kinds of events throughout the year.
Its location means you can be in delightful countryside instantly and it's a short drive to coastal towns like Le Touquet and Hardelot Plage, with beautiful sandy beaches and delightful seafood restaurants, as well as pine woods and golf courses.
Recommend the Valley of the Course just running up to the north, which is beautiful with the not-to-be missed chocolate factory in Beussant, and Desvres with its excellent ceramics beyond.
We always bring bikes, as great cycling, but watch out for the cobbles in the town centre. (Paves). Very helpful tourist office and lots of quality shops.
To be honest, we rarely go further south.
Love the town and the area. We just had a gorgeous summer break in October for heaven's sake!

This is a wonderful spot.
This is a wonderful spot. It is close to Calais as a convenient stop over and the town is very pretty. It is where Haig stationed the British HQ in WW1 and is full of history going back even further with impressive ramparts. We had a light supper at Crêperie le Clan des Elfes which is in a historic building with down to earth food; the galettes were freshly made and generous in portion size. Highly recommend the town and especially the accommodation we stayed in, Aux remparts de Montreuil.

Small place but equally beautiful.
Small place but equally beautiful. Plenty of restaurants and a few shops, enough to fill a weekend. We ate and drank in a couple of places throughout our stay and all very pleasant. We visited the citidel to find out a little more history and it was worth a visit, low cost to get in and very good, simple audio guide is included in this

Lovely accomodation, very comfortable bed. The garden was delightful. Tim, the owner, was extremely welcoming and friendly but also left us to enjoy our time there. His suggestions of restaurants was fantastic. We stayed for 4 nights, the breakfasts were plentiful, with very fresh produce. We would definitely recommend and it is now on our list of places to stay, whilst travelling through France.
The hotel is very well located in one of the main square of Montreuil-sur-Mer with lots of free parking. Beds were extremely comfortable and breakfast's products very fresh and made by local farmers. Apple and apple/strawberry juices were delicious!
