This is our second visit to Marseillan. It is a gem.
This is our second visit to Marseillan. It is a gem. The whole town is well kept, no rubbish or graffiti anywhere, and no beggars or hawkers. The harbour area is lined with restaurants and is very pretty with boat rides on the lake and canal. As it’s small there is not a lot to do but there are plenty of places nearby. However public transport is poor so a car is useful. Sete, Bezier, Montpellier are all nearby. Also lots of vineyards. There is a good beach at Marseillan Plage, a more touristy area a few miles away but the bus service there is not frequent. Finally, I have to say that I have travelled extensively in France and the people in this area are by the friendliest and the drivers the most courteous. Actually stop at pedestrian crossings!

Marseillan is a lovely small town.
Marseillan is a lovely small town. The cafes and restaurants serve really good food , we especially liked the restaurants around the harbour as they are really good at fish & shellfish dishes.
Marseillan is great for walking around. There is a market on a Tuesday morning which sells everything from local produce to shoes and handbags.

Marseillan is a beautiful harbour town, on the Etang d thau, the seafood here is second to non. There are a number of exceptionally friendly restaurants, the climate is superb & it has an authentic French atmosphere. It's not a beach holiday, but a chance to sample living the French way of life.

Marseillan is an authentic old town with a heart of narrow streets and old buildings as well as a small vibrant port area on the Etang D'Thau. You can also get a bus- 20-30mins to the beautiful wide and sandy Marseillan-Plage for just over a euro. The two sides Marseillan-Ville and Marseillan-Plage are almost polar opposistes, the charm of old town, cafe-life and history vs the sea-side hustle and bustle, suncream and sea - which all complement each other perfectly. Great seafood is available everywhere! It has a wonderful range of shops, restaurants and cafes for all budgets, and a couple of supermarkets on the edge of town. The weather is usually reliably hot all summer. I've been coming here for 15 years and it never fails to charm and inspire.

A fabulous little place. Very friendly.
A fabulous little place. Very friendly. Plenty of bars and restaurants as well as shops for daily essentials.
Oysters, seafood and fish are the specialities here, along with some great wines.
The port is a highlight.
Lots to see and do - boat trips, paddleboarding, cycling, sailing, walking.
Further afield are some lovely old towns to visit.
Marseillan Plage is just 5km away.
This was an exceptional place to stay. The room (delux suite) was large with beautiful contemporary decor. Upstairs there is a kitchen with patio doors onto a terrace with views over the rooftops of Marseillan. We could have breakfast served to us either indoor or out on the terrace.During our stay of 4 days we could also make use of this space during the day. Our host Adrian was incredibly helpful in both guiding us on places to go and ensuring we enjoyed our breakfast and our stay. Our time there was memorably good.
We really enjoyed the breakfast which was served in the garden. Very relaxing and unfussy. The swimming pool is lovely and kept very clean and there are plenty of sun loungers around to accommodate everyone. Although it is in the centre of Marseillan it is very quiet and peaceful. The bed was comfortable and there is a fridge which is handy. The hotel is in a lovely old building and has been renovated to a high standard.
Everything about the apartment is accurately shown in the pictures. It is spacious and comfortable and very convenient for shops, restaurants and everything in Marseillan. We loved having parking in the garage. And the view! It's to die for......
A beautiful, spacious apartment, very well equipped, set in a perfect location on the port of Marseillan. Wonderful terrace overlooking the port, with views of the Etang. A variety of restaurants literally on the doorstep. Helpful host.
