Weather in fall is spotty, 2 hot days, 2 days of pouring rain so dress for the unpredictable. Would like to have taken the tour of the Pyrenees mountains (beautiful area) however all the tours end in August or early Sept. due to weather & road conditions. We came on our own and not with a tour group so finding info about Mass, and Candlelight procession didn't happen into late in week.
My husband got very sick on the road trip here. When I asked where the hospital was no one seemed to know which was surprising considering the amount of sick and disabled visit Lourdes. I finally got a map & the front desk showed where it was. The hospital staff was excellent and they made sure we had someone who could speak English. The nurses only spoke French so the google translator was imperative. Make sure you bring copy of meds & medical hx. We had pictures on our phone of all his meds, the dosage & num. of times it taken.

If you are looking for a retreat, facing difficulties, lost hope...go find yourself in Lourdes. Mary is real. Jesus is real. Both of them are Alive. They are not illusions, they are not made up...they care about your well being. Go cry in the Grotto like I did for the first time in 1995. Pour out your heart to The Holy Mother. She Herself will take you to Her son, Jesus...leading you there with her sound advice you must definitely heed, "Do whatever He tells you..."
He Himself will come to embrace you...accept Him as your Lord and Saviour and now your life story begins...
I will NEVER regret going to Lourdes in that July 1995. I was in shreds! Now life has taken a different turn...it is not a bed of roses but I have a Mother whom to turn to when things get tough and a friend who helps me all along...Jesus always by my side....

Sanctuary area is very well maintained, clean and beautiful. Lourdes is mainly seen as an pilgrimage, however you can have a great time here too. Wonderful place with very friendly people.

Lourdes is vaguely interesting (for a quick visit), and the location is good wrt the Pyrenees... but honestly, I'd stay somewhere else (smaller villages) next time... If you're a cyclist rather than a catholic pilgrim, this place is really not for you

If you plan to visit or work at the Lourdes sanctuary, this is a good option because from the hotel, it's only a 7-8 minute walk away. The room has a refrigerator, a stove with oven, microwave etc.. so we didn't have to eat out in restaurants all the time. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel and it takes you to the City or the Monoprix for groceries (it's walkable but uphill). That same bus also goes to the train station for 1 euro so there's no need to pay for a taxi.
A lovely stay in this lovely hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. They could not have been more helpful. The hotel was very clean. Facilities were very good and a very good breakfast every morning. A little outside the main area of Lourdes, which we saw as a benefit but only a few minutes walk away, so still very close. We’d gladly stay here again. Highly recommend.
