This lovely cottage sits in a courtyard fronting directly onto the canal at a quiet end of Josselin. It is a perfect base for exploration of the historical town and larger environs and wonderful for walks along the canal. The building has had many lifetimes of varied use; yet the interior has been smartly renovated, updated and well-appointed with a nicely designed functional kitchenette creating a home away from home for 2 people. The tile work, furnishings (some crafted by the owners in their nearby business), and overall design were nicely complemented by the warm welcoming ambience created by the hosts and their conscientious care.

A small medieval town, easy to navigate with friendly brasseries and a nice character. A good place for a short weekend stop. bring your bike (or hire one) and take the canal path to the next village or two

A small walkable town with all the amenities one needs in an old historic locale. Lovely walks in older parts of town with lots to discover and explore; interesting Chateau/Castle; wonderful walks along canal; at least one delightful park with nice walking trails; info signs tucked everywhere providing an ongoing insight into history and events in the area; nice restaurants; artistic installation at many surprising places providing a rest for the eyes; on edge of town are modern conveniences; good highway to get to/from;

Delightful historic town with a chateau and many 16th century houses which have been well maintained. There are information plaques on many of them and it is easy to walk round the town which has a river/canal as well as parks. There is a good choice of places to eat from restaurants to cafes, bars and creperies. Interesting shops offer opportunities for browsing with jewellery, books (French & English), gifts, clothes and shoes!

The river is beautiful and the castle/chateau is an imposing backdrop. The old town behind the castle had lots of interesting old buildings, shops and museums. We didn't have time too see it all but it was a delightful place to visit and to walk along the river.

A marvellous view of the castle opened up as we drove round the town. We visited the castle and it was a fine spot.
The town itself is full of character with charming half timbered properties in profusion. The church is also worth a visit. The road around the town is one way so as you go up from the river around the castle and up the Main Street you have to give way to pedestrians which means a slow careful drive taking in all the sights, great.
Slight down side there were not many places to eat at night we ate in the Taverna Bistro it was fine and well priced.

Lovely location, clean and all staff very friendly and helpful. Food very nice, although cooked breakfast, scrambled egg and bacon not very hot. Stayed with elderly mother, able to access accommodation and room but room very difficult for my mother to get into bedroom and bathroom with walker, although I was warned about this before going. Would definitely stay again if in area but not with a disabled person. Josselin is a beautiful and interesting place to stay.
We had a lovely time staying in the hotel. It had a great location, the view of the river and castle from our room was lovely, and we enjoyed having dinner in the old dining room and drinks in the bar. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating with our little dog. We were silly enough to leave our usb drive plugged into the TV when we left, but when we called the hotel, they found it and posted it back to us. We will certainly be back.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful owners, they could not have been more welcoming. Christine was very careful to check on our dietary requirements (gluten free) and so accomodating. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The room was spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed and fabulous view of the canal and the chateau. I would recommend Aux Lits du Canal to everyone. Josselin is a very beautiful town and well worth a visit.
Lovely view of the château across the canal from our room, really friendly helpful staff, restaurant does great food and their wine list is good and not over priced, the bar is good for a pre dinner drink, car parking free and easy to use, very comfortable bed, and Josselin is a pretty, if quite small, town. Great for a stopover. Traditional old-school French hotel.
The location was perfect. In the middle of the old town near the chateau. Absolutely NOTHING in Josselin was open on Monday. No creperies, pizza bars, grocery stores, takeaways, NOTHING. Our host kindly made us a little supper of soup, salad, cheese, pate and fruit. Perfect. It was not convenient for him to do that but he did. It was wonderful
The hotel is very easy to locate, free parking, excellent menu /both plat de jour and a la carte. Breakfast is very good indeed. Situated in a beautiful location and logistically ideal for visiting other parts of Britany. Pricing was exceptionally fair and the staff went out of their way to oblige. Well worth considering as a short or long stay
The location was ideal within the town of Josselin but very peaceful. Breakfast was delicious with freshly prepared fruit salad, crisp, crusty baguette as well as croissants and pains au chocolat. Home made jams, local apple juice and a choice of teas or coffee in addition to a selection of charcuterie and cheese made for a morning feast!
We had a fantastic stay there! If you are looking for an authentic French castle experience, this place is for you. The view from our bedroom was absolutely stunning. Our host was fantastic! We had dinner at the hotel the night of, and it was absolutely scrumptious. It surpassed all of our expectations.
Classical accommodation in the centre of Josselin, the location is absolutely perfect. The hosts gave a very welcoming feeling, eager to have interesting conversations at breakfast, which was delicious. Beautiful garden. Can highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Josselin!
The hosts Paul & Janet were really lovely they made us very welcome Paul greeted us on our arrival & even helped with carrying our luggage. Our room was amazing, with a large balcony & a wonderful view of Josselin Chateau. the bathroom had a very welcoming large walk-in shower.
Very friendly host, very clean and nice. Diversified breakfast, cooked with local ingredients. Quiet village, close (2km away) from Josselin centre. Perfect for someone trying to experience the quiet countryside and a historic town at the same time.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The gîte had everything that was necessary and it was nicely decorated. The location was excellent and it was easy to walk and cycle and visit the lovely Josselin directly from thw gîte.
Great location for the town, we had a view of the chateau, friendly staff, bedroom was clean and spacious, bar was well stocked, restaurant was of high quality and it had free parking
Location good views of the canal to rear and baker’s over the road from front door. Josselin has good attractions, parks and chateau. The appliances all worked and simple to operate
Rooms with a view directly across from the Chateau. Spectacular night lighting. Facility was clean. Good food in a grand dining room. Convenient parking lot across the street.
Just beautiful. A stunning place to stay, clean, comfortable, beautiful gardens and lovely hosts. It is close to Josselin by car.
