The area is very quiet and is surrounded by Grapevines for the production of Cognac. We found a lovely restaurant in Saintes to eat but I cannot remember the name.
We visited Saintes, Cognac and Talmont-sur-Gironde which was a very charming little village with narrow winding streets and various places to eat.
