Castelaundry is in the heart of Cassoulet country…we had some fabulous meals in local restaurants. It is also a stepping off point for boats on the MIDI canal. You can walk or bicycle along the paths beside the canal and watch the locks operating. Great place to visit and interesting villages nearby.

The canal midi is its main attraction as well as the markets. The town is very pretty with panoramic views from the windmill.I found the people of the town very friendly and enjoyed the french way of life. Apart from the excellent dinner and service at the hotel I found the restaurants I ate in average, hiwever I would definitely recommend this town to anyone.
The hotel is located in a lovely spot, right next to the Canal du Midi in Castelnaudary. It is conveniently located for pedestrian as well as bicycle access to this charming town. The room and facilities were well kept. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, which normally does not matter, because there are fans and easy to open windows. The hotel was the only place where we stayed that still had a bidet, which was charming. The breakfast was delicious and generous.
Very modern and new ‘rugby themed’ hotel over 3 floors. Great bedrooms with a fantastic modern bathroom and separate toilet. An automatic night light activated for 5-7 mins if you needed to go to the bathroom.
Our party of 10 had a wide variety of meals in the restaurant from salads to cassoulet and entrecôte steaks. Everybody remarked how very good their food was. Breakfast was very good and plentiful.
We had the immense family room (rather a suite, in fact). It was like staying in an 18th century mansion: high ceilings, wooden floors, floral tapestry and curtains. This experience continued in the breakfast room.
The house is located in a quiet street near the veget of Castelnaudary, about five minutes by foot to restaurants etc.
Impressive rooms with very modern facilities. Breakfast was wonderful. Host was attentive but not intrusive during breakfast. Super nice couple own the hotel. Offered to take our luggage to the boat harbor so we didn’t have to lug them through town. I would highly recommend this property if you’re in the area.
This apartment is so well located for the centre of Castelnaudary. We attended the fête and had only a five minute walk to the main stage. The host is extremely welcoming and helpful, even recommending restaurants for us.
The apartment is spacious, well equipped and inordinately comfortable. We loved it.
The manager (Sophie??) was really great and tried to assist us with all our needs. We started our barging trip from Castelnaudary the next day on Easter Monday and with all the shops closed it was a challenge but Sophie phoned around and helped us none Frenchies.
Manager and staff exceptionally helpful. Coukd walk to town via a side gate access along the canal. An easy 10 min walk. Room faced the Canal du Midi with a wonderful view of the boats moored up. Castelnaudary a friendly little village/town. .

The hotel front desk staff was exceptionally warm and friendly. The rooms are well designed and comfortable. Breakfast was served with Covid protocols in mind and had a very good assortment for a really reasonable price.
Very surprised when we got to location; very disappointed with location BUT when we got into hotel were pleasantly surprised by how calm it was and how we could detract from the location …..
